Worth the drive to Takinoue Park and Kamiyubetsu Tulip Park?

Hi all! Will be in Asahikawa on 1 Jun with a senior citizen and 2 kids 8 and 2 years old. Is it worth the drive to Takimoue Park and Kamiyubetsu Tulip Park on the same day? Another other things along the route which can break up the drive, especially to Takinoue Park which is 2 hours away?

Full bloom for tulip in Kamiyubetsu Tulip Park this spring is said to be from mid-late May, so by June 1 it would pass the peak period. You can monitor their live webcam before deciding to go or not.

Pink Moss blooms a bit later so the chance of seeing it during early June is good. Their annual flower festival in Taknoue Park is on till June 10 this year.

Both of these are an easy trip from Asahikawa. We went to Takinoue Park first and then on to the Kamiyubetsu Tulip Park last year on May 22nd. The tulips were in full bloom then, and it was a bit early for Takinoue's full bloom. While the others in our group spent time in the tulips, I went to the Tonden History Museum which is next door - the exhibits are explained with Japanese signage only as I recall. At the parking for the museum and the tulip park are several street-side eateries and small shops. We ate there as restaurants seemed scarce in the area. The nice thing about the tulip park is that there is plenty of space to run around, which may be what a two-year-old and eight-year-old need after an hour drive from Takinoue. Takinoue also has running space.

i went to both parks on 1st june last year too, and it was off their peak season already. while takinoue is still at least 80% covered in shibazakura, more than 50% of the tulips at kamiyubetsu were already gone and the remaining all beginning to wilt.

i'll suggest you check up their festival dates to make sure that you don't make a wasted trip over.

Thanks all! Will definitely check out the kamiyubetsu website before visiting.

Along the driving route from Asahikawa to Furano, there are quite a number of flower lands. Which of these will be top 3 on your list to visit and which you will gladly miss? All are very close to one another but we do not want to end up seeing too much of the same thing.
