Travel from Maun to Kasane

Question

Our flight from Maun to Victoria Falls International airport has been cancelled, and there are no other flights for us to take. Therefore, in just a few weeks, we are trying to get between Maun and Victoria Falls/Livingstone without using air transport. There are 3 adults. We can see that we could get road transport from Maun to Kasane, cross the border, then continue on to our accommodation in Zambia by road, but cannot find information anywhere about how to get a transfer/taxi for this journey. Can anyone, especially locals or recent travellers to the area, tell me anything about finding someone to take us on this journey? Or indeed, how else we could travel this journey now that there are no scheduled flights between these places.

fastjet cancelled? just fly via JNB, requiring overnight not as if road transfer will be any better or cheaper. requiring 10h

Thank you - much appreciated. Sadly, the shortest trip via JHB we can find is almost 30 hours plus a hotel stay for 3 of us, when we only have 4 days in Victoria Falls, so I’m trying to find a shorter route if possible.

What date do you need to travel? Flights to VFA or LVI (probably on Airlink?) will be via JNB or CPT. The road journey is long (via Nata) and not sure there are any buses? Private road transfer is possible I guess, but probably not cheap?

I guess you could contact the charter aircraft companies in Maun to see of they can help? Mack Air, Major Blue, Safari Air. Of course chartering an aircraft will not be cheap . . .

the shortest route is charter a plane to fly nonstop mub to vfa / lvi. inquire mackair about this

the maybe second shortest route is fly mackair to kasane (you will be stopping multiple times when plane drop passenger off at various delta camps), then hop onto its scheduled flight to vfa. https://www.mackair.co.bw/scheduled/ . this option will likely require overnight in kasane just like the jnb option bc i m not sure if anyone can guarantee you will get to kasane before 11 am

the cheapest option is probably self drive to kasane, even if one-way rental fee is applicable (let's assume $300). then get a ride from kasane to zim/zam
