Questions about visiting Botswana!

I am considering travel to Botswana (mostly to see Chobe, Victoria Falls, and other nature stuff) in August 2019. I am a single, Asian-American female, I would most likely join a safari group. I was thinking Intrepid Travel, Botswana Highlights. Or maybe Contiki, Cape, Safari, and Falls. Has anybody had experience with these groups? Any suggestions for other travel groups?

Also, I'm a bit intimidated by Africa. Do you have suggestions? Like to take malaria pills? Are they necessary? Any suggestions welcome.

Intrepid is great, I'm a solo white female and recently traveled with them and had an absolutely incredible experience. However, next time I go back I will probably go on my own and not with a group- it's perfect for a first trip to get a feel for things, but I would feel totally comfortable planning it myself now.

Everyone in my group took malaria pills, but unless you go north you won't need them- no mozzies in most of Botswana. No one had any weird side effects. Other advice for Africa? Get ready for an amazing experience. People are so friendly and helpful, and the scenery is incredible. Once you're there you'll realize there was no reason to be nervous!

I can assure you that you have nothing to fear you'll have the best trip of your life. I've never met anyone who didn't think that their safari to Africa wasn't the best trip that they had ever been on. If you are opposed to trophy hunting of animals please keep in mind that the best way to conserve wildlife is to go on safari.

Hi

You have absolutely nothing to worry about in these parts of Africa. Friendly people and ready to assist. Just expect abundant wildlife and great scenery. Unfortunately I have not used any of the companies you mentioned but Intrepid I have heard good reviews about them.

Enjoy Africa!!

Hello Fran!

I did a solo trip in Southern Africa in May...It was absolutely amazing and I felt very safe.

In Botswana, Ive done the two days one night camping safari with a company called Puku Safaris...It was the highlight of my 22 days trip. Judy, on of the owners, was a great support to me. She treated me like a daughter! If you need anything, talk to her..she helped me a lot with things that wasnt even her business. (+26774796707).

I flew to Victoria Falls and crossed to Botswana cause the flight was cheaper, but if you can flight directly to Botswana, makes much more sense you just do a day trip to Victoria Falls and keep based in Kasane.

Have a safe trip!
