Pasay or Makati

Pasay or Makati

I will be in manila for two nights next month. I am considering staying at Hotel Jen in Pasay, however after reading most of the forums everyone advises to stay in Makati.

I am looking at a area that's relatively safe, restaurants and malls nearby and not far from the touristy places (10 - 30 minutes drive)

Should I stay at Hotel Jen (within my budget of 5500 pesos) and commute to the various areas I want to be in or should I reconsider to stay in Makati rather?

Better stay in Makati. Personally, I don't really like Hotel Jen and its location. If you want Pasay, maybe the newer hotels near Mall of Asia?

Makai is a better area to stay. For your budget you could stay at the 4 star Holiday Inn Makati which is attached to the Glorieta Mall so in a great location.

Makati is better. It is more compact although Mall of Asia area continues to develop.

Another vote for Makati/Ermita area which is near Intramuros, Rizal park, Ocean Park and Paco park. Good restaurants and bars in the Ermita area as well as Robinsons shopping Mall

Thank you all

Unfortunately after taking into the taxes into account, most of the good hotels (Holiday Inn, Dusit, Primea, new world ect.) in Makati are out of my budget.

Any suggestions of other good hotels in Makati?. I was hoping for ones with a pool, but looks like my budget wont allow for hotels with them.

How is the alabang area?

What is your reason for coming to Philippines? Alabang is far from touristy places and although it has some good eating places, it is not compact like Makati

If you want the real Manila go to Malate. You will find accommodation a lot cheaper. A place like Hotel Kimberly is a good option and well under your budget. There is Robinsons Mall and lots of eateries around.

You can try Somerset Milenium which is in Makati and near Greenbelt and around your budget. Think I saw a good offer for them in Deal Grocer. Another affordable option in Makati is here << https://alcoves.ph/ >>>

I honestly wouldn't say that Malate is the real manila.

anyway, why not get a hotel that is in the middle of both pasay and makati?

If you are after the night life, Quezon City is where you should be. Quezon Avenue is where the best clubs are. Malate, and Makati are tourist traps.

Tons of great local restaurants. accommodations are reasonably priced. travel time to airport and back is about 1.5 hours with normal traffic. 40 minutes without.

but really, what areas are you planning to go to?
