Manila stopover in February

Could you please help us with the following dilemma: we're arriving in Manila on a Saturday @ 6:40 PM (Terminal 1) and leave to Puerto Princesa the next day at 5:20 AM (Terminal 3). The return stopover is from 8:35 AM to 10:40 PM on a weekday.

I was thinking to book a hotel for Saturday night since we're coming after a 10-hour flight. What can you recommend?

For the return flight I would just visit Manila from morning till evening. What are the not-to-be-missed attractions in Manila?

Resorts World Manila complex has several hotels which are just across Terminal 3 and you can take a free shuttle or walk via an airconditioned overpass. Depending on your budget you can choose between Marriott, Maxims, Belmont and Remington hotels.

Belmont would be my choice as its a nice hotel and reasonable priced. We enjoyed it there. Easy walk to Resorts World where there are restaurants casinos etc. Free shuttle to the airport. In fact with the walkway you can now walk to T3 from Belmont Hotel

Avoid Remmington as it reports as very noisy. If you want luxury Marriott is the way to go.

I agree with the above - just check into a hotel, crash immediately keeping your alarm on, and asking the reception for a wake up call. Since your flight next day is at 5:20, I am guessing you will have to wake up around 2ish, freshen up and make a run for the airport.

During your return flight stopover, I would suggest spending the day in Intramuros as it is a nice look into how Philippines looked during the colonial Spanish era. However, if you have been to Europe, this part wont excite you much as it pales compared to cities like Rome and Venice. If you like malls, I would suggest spending the day in Makati (Greenbelt area) or Mall of Asia.

Though if you like marine life, the ocean world would be a great place, but I wont recommend that in this case as your timings are restrictive - you would need to take an early taxi to the airport around 4pm ish to escape the evening traffic and reach the airport in time for flight back home.

You could always stay in the lounge at T3 for 8 hours, costing about 700 pesos which would save you time traveling back and forward to the hotel. We had an early morning flight in September and arrived in Manila at 8pm, flying out at 6 am, The lounge was quite comfortable and we did get some sleep despite many negative reports on TA.

If you stayed in a hotel you would be settled in by 8.40, have dinner and would have to be up again by about 3 am. Is it worth it? You could show your onward ticket and take the free shuttle to T3, enjoy a meal in one of the many restaurants on level 4 and then take a kip for a few hours.

On your return you could visit Intramuros, Rizal Park and possibly Ocean Park. You could always end up at the Mall of Asia and enjoy a seafood buffet at the Vikings, one of the best in Manila.

Allowing for baggage collection, passport control, checking in etc how much time do you really have spare? You'll want to rest, no doubt so choose an airport hotel.

Getting anywhere in Metro Manila is time consuming as the traffic congestion can be horrendous. Use Uber or similar. Allow plenty of time to get there and back if you choose to visit, for example, historic Intramuros or swanky Makati with its mall and Ayala Museum. To be honest, Manila does not have anything amazing to offer someone on a city break or stopover but the people are nice.
