Xmas Day in Manila

I am arriving in Manila on 24th December this year, so will be in Manila for Xmas Day. I want to spend Xmas day sitting around a pool drinking cocktails with lots of people, where would I find such places?

yep. what he said.

shangrila the fort, sofitel, shangrila the fort should be a good choice as it's a newer hotel, and in BGC, so more people/ family should be staycationing there :)

if you're looking for the more 'adult crowd' and "eye pleasing" view... try solaire or any casino hotel.

CHRISTmas is pretty dead in Manila and most hotels are not necessarily the best gathering place. Head to Puerto Galera or some other such party place.

^ not entirely true.

Manila is a happening place during christmas day.

and hotels may not necessarily be the gathering place, but a lot of familes and singles do staycations at 5 star hotels.

or do a day trip to batangas or tagaytay..

CHRISTmas is dead in Manila, and even though buffet get busy, its not a hang around place. Get out of town as most do.

I'd probably recommend The Sofitel by the bay. Lots of families staycationing or dining. You can hang out in the resort style pool and if weather permits, enjoy the Manila Bay sunset. Another option would be EDSA Shangri-la which likewise has a resort style pool. If you get bored, you can head out to any of the huge malls across the street on either side of the hotel. Malls usually open late on Christmas day (around noon) and expect huge crowds.

If you have the time, inclination and money, leftovertoo's advice to travel from Manila to (say) central Visayan islands (such as Bohol, Panay, Cebu Islands to name three of many) is sound, but try to do this on Christmas Eve as on Christmas Day public transport may be limited or not running. And yes, no such thing as 'Xmas Day' - it should have 'Christ' as its commencement because it's His birth we celebrate.

I actually love Christmas in Manila and the huge fireworks display on NYE.

Christmas is dead in Australia in comparison.
