Hi, I have never planned a holiday this far ahead. Would anybody know when packages for the Tokyo Olympics 2020 are like to become available please? Any advice is much appreciated
Probably too early to discuss.
A very easy thing to do is try to book a major hotel 2-3 years in advance by direct communication with hotel (it's unlikely that hotels like Courtyard Tokyo Station will be out of business during the period). Also, try to get flight tickets corresponding to the time early enough, perhaps with the airlines. No tour is needed for Tokyo and its Olympic stadiums as it won't be any complicated; you can use public transport to get around.
The most important thing is getting the ticket. Which should seem impossible to do; get them through official places.
Don't be sad if you can't win a ticket - not everyone watches Olympics on the ground- you have television.Edited: 5 years ago
All inquiries on Tokyo Olympics 2020 might be first made to the official Tokyo Olympics 2020 committee:
Who else but they know when tickets would be first going to be available. I do wish to see the most unpopular sport and enjoy the rest on television at home.Edited: 5 years ago
There are all sorts of scums already related to Tokyo Olympics; do take care and buy tickets through the official routes. Tickets sales should be announced an year before and sold 6 months in advance.

Usually, the Olympic Committees of participating countries appoint ticket reseller agents. You may contact the Olympic Committee of your country for ticket sales of specific games.
Big sports event, such as Olympic Games or World Cup, has official corporate sponsors. They have reserved good seating in advance. If you have some business opportunity with them, you may be able to obtain tickets easier than normal purchase.Edited: 5 years ago
My wife and I just came back from our Tokyo, Osaka and Kyoto vacation. We are used to joining organized and escorted tour groups. But this time my wife decided to make our own itinerary, airline and hotel reservations. Upon arrival, we asked the help of the hotel concierge to get us the local tours and attractions. Very easy! There is really no need to buy an organized and escorted tours that include flights, hotels, local attractions, etc. from your country. Tokyo and the major cities like Osaka and Kyoto are very easy to travel to using Japan Rail system. The Japanese people are helpful, honest, respectful and pleasant. They would leave their work post or business to walk two blocks down to get you to the door of the place you would like to be at. We felt very safe in Japan!
Now that we know our way around Tokyo, we are planning our 2020 Summer Olympics trip. We will be booking our own airline, hotels and other arrangements. This way, we have the freedom to stay where we please and stay in attractions for as long as we want and not herded along with 30-40 other people.Edited: 5 years ago
There will be several Cruises going to Tokyo from various Countries,I would aim for a Cruise from West Coast of USA or Australia, your Country is allocated Tickets to an Agent and you will not have any trouble getting tickets it may not be to the Premium Events but you will get them when you have proof of your Tokyo address.
It will be a great Olympics and Japan is very safe and friendly.
Since the announcement of the opening night of the summer Olympics 2020 in Tokyo, (23/07/2020) many hotels have already received block bookings for the duration of the games.
Even so many hotel say, that they will not accept early bookings, they will accept block bookings eagerly.
Perhaps you can point me in the right direction, as I will be in Tokyo from 22-30 of July 2020 and need a double room in a 3 Star hotel.
With seasonal greetings
