Increasing speculation in uk press that turkey will be amber. This will require a COVID test prior to returning to uk ( and then quarantine for 5 days)

I have three holidays booked for this year so! Is there anywhere in Fethiye that carries out those test

The local hospitals everywhere and there are test facilities at airports but that often means making a trip to the airport the day before you fly... At the moment tests are 150 lira. Not sure whether this may change...

There are three Hospitals in Fethiye, two private which are used by Europeans and in particular Brits. They are the Letoon and the Esnaf and there is a State Hospital which is in Calis, Fethiye.

Easy to get in touch with the private Hospitals, they are on the internet and have email or you can phone, they both have English speakers and just ask. The State Hospital could be asked, but you possibly would need a Turkish speaker to phone for you. All would be easy to reach if you are staying in Fethiye.

Also, keep an eye on the Virus Figures in Turkey, as it is the 3rd Wave of the Virus and figures are going up every day, last week 11,000 per day, yesterday 42,300. Also, like most of Turkey, Fethiye is in the Red, High Risk Zone.

Not sure if you are in the U.K. if you are, it might be likely the British Government may not let us travel to Turkey if it does not get control of the Virus figures.

Unfortunately it’s looking very unlikely we will have that opportunity FJ.

But health is top priority, many hospitality workers in Turkey not yet vaccinated would be at even more risk if tourists are allowed in.

Who knows.. even after being vaccinated we could carry and pass on the virus.

Holidays are a luxury we all took for granted before the pandemic, nowadays we need to think very carefully.

from whats been leaked

turkey will be in the amber zone with most of the eu holiday destinations,

portugal, malta, israel, usa and a few obscure others will be green on may 17

to be reviewed every 4 weeks, hopefully by june, july it will be green.

if you think to where the uk was 3 months ago theres real cause for optimism!

Looking and analysing the figures it is difficult to anticipate Turkey when the proposed traffic light system is brought in is not placed on the red list or at the very least Amber which has some tough restrictions on return.

The figures over the last month have been rising sharply and as of yesterday stood at 42, 000 new infections in a day. When you consider the peak in December the highest daily infection rate was 32,000 and Turkey was then placed on the essential travel only list it would incomprehensible using the same barometer that the same conditions were not enforced.

Though Turkey are doing so so with their vaccination program it is hit and miss and though people who may wish to travel will argue i have had my jab whether one or two shots this does not stop a asymptomatic person carrying the infection and spreading the disease at some cost to non vaccinated persons in country but also contracting new variants which which they then return to their own country spread the infection.

I accept we have got to learn and live with this but until we have a better understanding of re infections and increased immunity via vaccinations i believe that travel this summer is going to be severely restrictive and the notion of a two week bucket and spade type holiday abroad is going to be prohibitive and financially expensive let alone the moral and ethics of travelling for pleasure

Has anyone read the UK Government website however which states that if returning from a country that requires self isolation (ie Amber), you have to pre-book a test package through an approved medical testing company for Covid tests on Days 2 and 8, and you have to input your test package reference number on your passenger locator form. These tests cost £250 each 😱

Why let things concern you at this stage?

We wont know for weeks what group Turkey will be placed in or what the restrictions will be, right now its all rumour and media speculation. Better to wait for the government to officially announce its plans before making your own.
