Plan to reach bangalore on 8 nov evening by flight. Then on 9 morning go to mysore visit and stay at hotel. 10th morning leave for ooty and local sightseeing and 11th stay at ooty and early morning on 12th leave for kodaikanal to reach by 2pm and stay on 13th also. 14th move to madurai and 15th morning move to rameshwaram. 16th kanyakumari and 17th leave for station at kochuveli. Is it good plan or need some modification. I want to have only unique and selected sightseeing only to avoid hectic schedule. Can someone suggest at what place hire cab to MiniMise cost.

i considered that distance between two stations is roughly 3.15 hours and so won't take much time to cover each location. However , I have one day extra to adjust any station if found to be hectic. Could you suggest where I could make one extra day stay. As I have already given two days each for Ooty and Kodaikanal considering hilly areas. There is not much to see in Rameshwaram and Kanyakumari, I think. Also let me know whether there is public rush during mid november .

Considering that most of your itinerary is around the Madurai belt, it may be good for you to take a train out to Madurai from Mysore (or even Bangalore) cutting out Ooty, as it will save you a lot of travel. Though your Kodai stay may not do justice to the Ooty experience, you still have one hill station experience and a lot relaxed itinerary.

I agree with you to delete one hill station. As per you which is more preferable Ooty or Kodaikanal and why?

More than debating which is better, in this scenario where most of your other trips are around the Madurai region, it makes more sense to go with Kodai over Ooty, cutting down travel time and related costs considerably

You are correct. My intention to go to ooty was only toy train as my kids will enjoy. Otherwise I heard that ooty is now too much commercialised and greenery and natural beauty is not so much as kodaikanal has.

Well, which is better is more of a personal preference based on priorities and opinions differ (mine certainly does over yours on Kodai over Ooty), however as I said earlier, practicality (time, distance & cost) drives the decision here. . .

Your plan is very hectic. You will be very exhausted after this trip. Why not stay longer at one place and relax rather than see everything and remember nothing? As for taxis, I have found that taxi Drivers are not familiar with places out of State. They have to keep stopping to ask for directions. Also we are charged round trip. So best to take trains whenever possible. Then use local taxis for sightseeing.

I hope your calculations are accurate. Mine were way off. First cab driver got lost. Also had to slow down in town for cows and pedestrians. Couldn’t drive fast on mountain roads. 5 hour trip took 12 hours . Very frustrating.
