Should men wear long pants, we have been told both men & women should cover their knees in temples in Cambodia?

Knees and shoulders should be covered in temples.

Most locals wear long trousers but many tourists wear long shorts that come to just below the knee, and that is fine.

We’ve just visited Cambodia and knees and shoulders should be covered but you do see the disrespectful western tourists with short shorts! And string strap t shirts in the temples.

We just returned from there, my husband wore shorts that went to his knees without any problems. Men and women (tourists?) were wearing loose elephant pants often, purchased for less than 10 USD. Lightweight and easy to wear.

Why is it recommended to wear. losed toe shoes? Are sturdy sandals OK?

sturdy sandals are the foot wear of choice of most visitors - most of us find sneekers or walking shoes/boots way too hot

For footwear i also think that it’s best to avoid wearing thongs (flip flops), especially in the wet. I’ve seen people take nasty tumbles while climbing up and down in temple sites wearing them.
