Help with itinerary/choosing an island

My husband and I are planning to visit Croatia at the beginning of July (last minute planners!) and would like some advice on our itinerary.

Current plan is to fly into Split and stay for one night

3 or 4 nights on an island…but which one?

We are thinking of Korcula or Hvar.

I’ve been to Hvar twice before and loved it, but this was around 8 years ago now when I was in my early twenties. I think it might have changed since then? I would be more than happy to go again if it’s still the best place for our needs.

We want to spend these few nights relaxing, to be near a nice beach (which is quite important) and also close to a town where we can eat out, go shopping, etc. We are 29 and 35 - not bothered about nightlife as such but would like somewhere with a bit of atmosphere. Where would you recommend? Open to suggestions of other islands.

2 or 3 nights in Trogir

I have been several times before to Split so the reasoning for choosing to Trogir is to try somewhere new and use as a base to visit Krka. Is it quite a small place? Is it worth going there or would it be better to spend more time on an island and visit Krka from Split (if we spent longer there?)

Any thoughts/recommendations on our plan would be much appreciated.

Korcula would be a good choice as would Vis. Brac or Solta if you want somewhere closer to Split. Trogir is always worth a visit. The old town is compact, but it is quite lively. You could also consider Primosten.

Thank you for your help. I've just realised how much further Korcula is away from Spilt - i had assumed it was a similar journey time to Hvar.

Hvar looks to be very booked up for our dates unfortunately.

Would you recommend Brac as a suitable alternative? Or is Korcula worth the extra journey time?

Or perhaps Vis?

Brac would be a good alternative - look at Supetar or Bol. Trogir is good to visit places as you go north up the coast such as Krka, Primosten, Sibenik etc

Vis is sublime but 2,5 hours from Split. Well worth at least a few nights.

We are staying in Trogir for two nights at the end of our stay. Perhaps would it better to extend our stay there?

We are looking for nice beaches, restaurants and maybe some snorkeling/kayaking, cycling and hiking. Are there other places along the coast that might offer this?

Looking at brac there isn't much accommodation left in Bol :(

I think Vis would be what you are looking for...but it's quite the long journey out there.
