Train street - any train during the day on a weekday?

Hi all, I've read some blogs about train street and found out that there are two stretches that are referred to as "train street", one north of the station where the trains towards Sapa go and one south of the station where the trains towards HCMC go. But it's not clear to me yet if the 15:30 (3:30 pm) train goes everyday (unfortunately we won't be there during the weekend) and if so, at which of these two sections you can catch it. Hoping someone knows!

Besides the ones going to Sa Pa, you also have those that go to Thai Nguyen, Dong Dang, and Hai Phong that head toward the Long Bien bridge.

There's not an easy way (that I know of) to find all the time tables of the train.

You can go on the main website dsvn.vn and look around for all the trains that depart from the Ha Noi station.

Cheers,

John

One goes through at 7.30pm or 19:30 too in the opposite direction ie entering Hanoi.

Yes, they run 7 days a week.

The 3pm one is the best due to being seen in daylight.

Thank you both for your replies. Do you also know which stretch the 3pm passes by @big a? Is it a train leaving Hanoi heading for the south or heading to the north?

I sort of fell in love with train street during my 7 days in Hanoi and I think went at sunrise 3 times & late afternoon/sunset 3 times. I saw 3 to 4 trains each morning between 5 - 630am and I think 2 between 6-7pm, I never did see the 3pmish train, but I have to say the train coming through was almost an anticlimax. I just enjoyed walking the tracks and and having a coffee with the locals in the little makeshift trackside cafes in the morning and a beer or 3 in the afternoon. Wow great pictures dags111! So you would say it's definitely also worth a visit even if there's no train passing by?

Ilrnr,

I see a northbound train departing Ha Noi at 15.20.

Then, there are two southbound trains at 13:10 and 14:30

Good luck.

I didnt see any tourists at 530am :) I usually stayed until 630-7am having a coffee or 2 and never saw anyone. When I went 4pmish would see a few tourists, but not many & didnt see any stay until sunset

You might try Railway Hanoi Cafe - I believe it's on the tracks between Tran Phu and Dien Bien Phu (I haven't been there yet) - this is behind Tong Duy Tan (Hanoi's food street).
