Airport Wifi

Hi all,

I was just wondering if the airport has reliable wifi? We have booked a local taxi driver via a recommendation and our communication is via WhatsApp. I’m just wondering if the wifi is reliable so that we can notify the driver once we are through passport control/ security etc.

Thanks

Nat

It might be reliable for WhatsApp but not much more.

It is free.

Yes the airport wifi does work and you can use WhatsApp but don’t step outside the building otherwise you will lose signal.

I found the WiFi to be reliable and good for basic needs when in the main arrivals.

Thanks everybody for your replies! I may consider getting a sim in the airport, just keen not to hold the driver up if he is outside waiting. Cheers

"I may consider getting a sim in the airport"

Get the SIM card. But beware they will only sell you expensive data plans. In town you can get 7.5 to 10 Gigs of data for 50 Dh (less than 4 Quid), at the airport they will want to sell you 200 to 300 Dh plans with many times more data then you could ever use.

You can get the free SIM card and walk over to the little shop selling IAM phones and such (get the IAM Maroc Telicom SIM card). He will get you a 50 Dh top up.

If you tell your driver what flight you are on , he can easily track it and be there at the right time with out you calling him. He should be outside with your name on a sign.

The little shop is down the hall in the Departure area.

While you are there you might want to take a second and find the Al Barid ATM machine and withdraw some money. This bank has no added fees to take out money.

Arrived today and no problem with the WiFi in the airport, and waiting for our driver just outside the terminal building I had WhatsApp calls on the WiFi so for us it was fine
