I’ve read different posts about the souk el had and how large it is and easy to get lost. Are there different doors/entrances that lead to specialty areas…food, glass, pottery, fashion, leather? Or is all a jumble? 😁
I always walk from the hotel and enter at Bab Tanger (gate 8), mainly because there are clean toilets with an attendant there.
If you have a look on Google Maps it is the entrance at the North side, not far from the mosque.
That side is mostly clothes, shoes... The herb and amlou/honey section is near Porte Tamdoult (gate 4).
Fruit and vegetables are more to the southern side, near Bab Taroidant (Gate 2)
It is big, but getting lost is a bit exaggerated I think. You always can find an exit.
It is a lovely place with no to much tourist rubbish.
There are also a few places that do descent food.
Thank you maenan. Yes our ship berths in Agadir on afternoon of 23rd. We will only have that afternoon and evening to visit Agadir. Next morning we will take a car to Marrakech, (thought we’d take the bus but it is an hour longer and same roads I think). Then overnight in Marrakech and most of the day…..giving us close to 2 days. The late afternoon train to Casablanca. Meet the ship that night then have 1 day in Casablanca before ship leaves. I know it’s just a small taste of Morroco but my husbands mobility issues means we can no longer travel the way we used to. ☹️. So we make the best of it. Thank you.
Yes you could visit later but I doubt you'd want to have dinner at Souk El Had, there are only basic street food style places there and not many either
I also think it closes relatively early (maybe 9pm?), Marrakech souks and food stalls are still going until much later
Edited: January 14, 2025, 6:55 pmThank you Nibrika, I really appreciate your comments and your help.
We go to the food stalls in the souk for tagines and fish, there are lots of stall but it is very basic. They stop serving between 8pm and 9pm.
