Riad in Marrakech with parking option

Hello everyone,

I’m planning a trip to Morocco at the end of February and looking for a riad in Marrakech with convenient parking. However, based on reviews I’ve read on Booking.com, it seems that parking is often an issue. Many riad owners list parking as available, but in reality, there is none, or it’s a 30-minute walk away.

Can anyone recommend a good option with parking close to the Medina?

I understand that staying in a classic hotel near the old town is a backup plan, but I’d love to have an authentic experience in a riad.

Thanks in advance!

Rarely will parking be 30mins away but 10/15mins is possible - you really do need to carefully check reviews and someone will usually mention it

I know you can park a couple of mins walk from Riad Dar Najat for example

Also any riads in the Riad Larousse area will be close to the big car park there

You can also ask your Riad if they have parking there somewhere. Once I stayed quite close to Jemaa and anyway Riad had some parking places near there in the grind.

I personally would not want to stay in the back end of the medina. This will include a lot of extra walking. At night through some desolate areas. Though there are some nice areas of local life near there. And there is access to the number 2 bus and taxis (I have had to wait way long for an empty taxi to come by , when returning from this area at night)

It is not a bad area to stay in at all, but for me , it is way to far from the action , sights and things I want to do. So I try to stay closer to the square.

That's hard to stay near the square with a car :(

"That's hard to stay near the square with a car :("

Not really I do it myself when needed. I park it in a parking lot and walk to my accommodations. As a car is useless in Marrakech. I leave it parked until I am leaving the city. If I am leaving it for a number of days, I usually get a special cheaper rate.

The area of your riad is not some place I would want to drive through (nightmare and super nightmare if a lot of traffic and bikes, and motos). So much easier getting to parking by the square rather then driving down the tight street to get close to your riad. Are you sure your riad said you can park there? Or will you be a half block away on the non pedestrian street / alley?

Yes riad told me that I can park near the riad on the street.

What parking place near square would you suggest? Thank you!

I use the one diagonal from the Grand Hotel Tazi. As this is a self park in lined spaces. I also like I do not need to leave my keys with the attendant. I have also left my car at one of the hotels with gated parking lots (for a negotiated fee) . This is good too as there is someone watching the cars 24 / 7. If it is a rented car from Marrakech , I have parked it in the rental car lot.

Though these days I try to return my car rental as soon as i get to the city. If I need it again I rent another car.

As to street parking I am always worried about damage to my car (mostly from very bad drivers who park by braille) and this could be expensive later. In addition to that I have arguing with the car guardians about how much I have to pay them for street parking.

Why do you need a car in the city?
