You *must* have reservations. I recommend that you read the RV topic in the Top Questions on the right side of this page (full TA website.) One of the articles is about Where To Stay.

Also read about the Hwy 1 closure.

I 100% agree. Now through early fall is busy busy camping/RVing time. Many Campgrounds are full and have been for months. You'll probably have more luck with RV Parks.

For LA- check out Dockweiler RV Park, Malibu RV Park. And there is a KOA in Pomona that does tours to LA.

For SF-- there isn't a great option... KOA in Petaluma does day tour to SF...

Pismo has a really nice RV Park. But check Pismo, Morro Bay and San Simeon SP

Monterey/Santa Cruz has a couple of well rated KOA

It would also help to know your itinerary while in LA and what dates this covers.

Ok we travel from needles on the 17th of Aug then staying near Barstow on the 18th, then we have nothing booked. We went a few days in and around La, beach sightseeing, and then on the 24th head to San Fran, but stopping at national parks along way.

Needles and Barstow will be very hot in August, and only 2 hours apart. Your are visiting Mojave? Calico? Hot!

I would split your week stay, half of the time in San Diego and the other half near LA.

Do you have RV park reservations for any of this portion... especially Yosemite and whatever other national parks you want to visit?
