Train from Vilnius to Kaliningrad

Hi everyone. Just like to know if there are usually plenty of trains or buses that go from Vilnius to Kaliningrad? And can you just buy on the spot? or do you have to pre book in advance to avoid the deluge of travellers? This is for October period.

Assume all visas and paperwork are sorted. just need to actually get there XD

Cheers

Usually 2 trains and 2 buses per day is plenty. I don't remember now whether they (or which one) go each day or every other day.

I imagine that more than 10 travelers is deluge for this route.

Can't tell very precisely what the system is at the moment, but previously it was that you have to buy a ticket ~1 day before the trip, if they are on sale. Those all trains arrive from Russia, and they arrive with passengers, so Russian railways supply Lithuanian railways with the information as how much seats are left. So when Lithuanian railways know that, they can sell tickets. Previously it was not very clear when this info arrives. So it was normal to go to the ticket office some time in advance and either buy a ticket or receive the 1st hand info when the tickets will be available. Then act accordingly.

With bus(es) everything is simpler.
