Helpful advice for tourists

Please don't under estimate NZ as very safe country. Tourist have to take care of their belongings all the time. You are not safe at all remember that. I have heard so many news of people get robbed at knife point or their vehicle got stolen. All sorts of crimes happen in NZ. Please don't even dare to delete this post because this is a honest advice for all the thousand tourist who feel very free in NZ and then end up being a victim.

Crime happens all over the world and NZ is no exception, However, I see you have had a number of deleted posts and your offensive racist posts removed. Do feel free to also give feedback on other positive things and reviews to help other travellers. Enjoy your travels and take usual safety precautions.

There are thousands of positive feedback but when i am trying to help someone people take it offensive and say i am racist but that is not true. I have seen thousands of crime happen in NZ and all committed by the same people. Just 2 days back someone smashed my car's window and took out my GF's handbag and i have seen the lady who did that. Only i know that how i managed 400kms at 100k without door glass.

Perhaps stick to Wellington (although safe is a relative term - i wouldnt want to be there in an earthquake).https://www.stuff.co.nz/travel/news/97873876/wellington-one-of-the-safest-cities-in-the-world

You must have been told a million times not to exaggerate.

you claim that you have "seen thousands of crime happen in NZ and all committed by the same people". I am sorry but I don't believe you. Others will have their own view.

However there are 4.6 million living in NZ, and a few hundred thousand tourists at any one time. Not all of these are nice law abiding people so you need to take the usual sensible precautions that you would any where. We are sorry that you had the experience of your car being broken into. Don't let it spoil your trip.

Those that lump the blame onto any one ethnic group are twisted and should seek help. :)

It is true some tourists are complacent and need to be reminded to be on their guard.

Multiple times in Wanaka I would see visitors park and rush out of their car and down to the lake to see the views, leaving the car doors wide open, bags and wallets in open sight. When I reminded people to close and secure doors, they would shrug and say, but this is NZ, nothing bad happens here.

I don't know about the stats for Nelson, but in Wanaka a large proportion of stealing clothing, wallets etc, is done by toursits, not locals.
