Discovering Tassie

Hi,

Looking to pack in as much as we possibly can. We arrive into Hobart on 10 November and leave on 13 November (late flight back hm).

3 girls looking to enjoy the night life and the good seafood that I've heard about. We will be hiring a car so are thinking of the doing the following.

Day 1 - Arrive into Hobart am, do some local sight-seeing, check into hotel pm, (which we haven’t booked yet), so if anyone has any ideas pls advise, as we would like to be in the thick of things (night life etc)

Day 2 – Depending on the headache from the previous night, go to Salamanca markets and leave early afternoon for Launceston. Arrive Launceston and do some sightseeing.

Day3 – Maybe Cradle Mountain, or the Gorge but we are also interested in going to a few vineyards so if anyone knows of any good one’s pls let us know. Spend night in Launceston.

Day 4 – Head back to Hobart via Richmond and Ross…

Any other recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

Mornington...

Hi enmore,

If you take a look at www.wotif.com.au you will probably pick up a good deal seeing you are leaving soon.

JUst go into Hobart, then Launceston......for rates/description/location they are a very reliable website to use.

seafood in hobart- low budget- flippers fish bar the floating take-away restaurant. on the harbour. very good

launceston sightseeing is the Gorge. not much else really. shouldn't take long. Its a 2 hour drive to cradle mountain. take the whole day climb to the summit of Cradle mountain, which should take about 5 hours (go on live a little)

restaurants in launceston (tried- tested and survived!) mee-wah on Invermay road. decent chinese. Piere's in town (v. good) Prickly cactus is fun, mexican and well priced.

oh and if you have time in hobart (maybe as an alternative to cradle mountain for the lazy folk) you have to drive (yes drive) to the top of mount wellington. amazing drive up and oh the views!
