AC is of no use in Wengen. Open the window in the evening an let the cool fresh air in your hotel room. In Weggis only a few nights in the year temperatures don't fall below 20 Celsius. For Swiss people it's hard to understand why tourists want AC in Switzerland. We are used to the right "window management" on very hot days (open at night, mostly closed during the day) and don't see any reason to pay for AC.
Exactly... what's the point of AC when you can open the windows and let the fresh mountain air in?
weather.org said end of June to be 85 degrees (don't know what that is celsius). I would want an AC for that!
Checked Weather.com too, same thing 85 F, - 30C. Also, I have heard of street noise when sleeping.
If it is only 20C, that would be great.
So, that means no hotels have AC?
Weather forecasts in the mountains are totally unpredictable... it may be 85 degrees on any given day, it may be 45. And even if it's 85 down in the valley in the afternoon, it certainly won't be 85 in Wengen at 8 in the evening :-)
For a good local weather forecast for the next 3 or 4 days, use http://www.meteosuisse.admin.ch/web/en.html. Anything beyond that timeframe is not really reliable.
I cannot imagine street noise at night being an issue in either Wengen or Weggis... Weggis especially is tiny.Edited: June 05, 2013, 5:28 am
You seem to have posted multiple similar questions.
Wengen and Weggis are different propositions. Weggis might - in a heatwave - be hot at night (I have spent a few nights in stuffy hotel rooms in nearby Zug). Wengen - at altitude - is very unlikely to be hot at night. Opening the window even for a short time should suffice.
I have stayed at the Park Hotel in Weggis. It has AC. Nice, but very expensive. Generally, AC is to be found in the more upscale hotels. It's not typically wanted by guests from nearby countries and is almost frowned upon in Northern Switzerland (not healthy, ecological etc.). Many building are refused permits to install it.
As Wengen is traffic free you are not going to be disturbed by street noise. Never needed AC in Wengen even when the days have been hot, it cools at night. Just open the windows.
it is getting hotter, it is true and can be very hot even up the mountains.
It is still very rare to get AC anywhere, we need time to catch up with things :) so you will have to smile and bear it.
