Best area with 6 month old?

Hi, we are hoping to visit Malta around October when our little boy will be 6 months old. What I am not sure of is what area to stay in.

Looking for something that has a few attractions that you dont have to travel far for. Also something with culture.

Mellieħa is a good option? Also Bugibba?

I'd likely head to Sliema or St. Julians, possibly Bugibba.

October is usually good weather but it can see periodic storms, wind etc. Mellieha is very much about the beach and is to the far north of the island. This is not ideal if you want to venture out over a number of days (although it's good for getting to Gozo).

If you are planning on using the buses, I would certainly look at Sliema. It's a modern seaside town, with good access to Valletta etc. There are a number of play parks, good shopping and masses of cafes.

Thanks. I was looking at Sliema but according to this it has no sandy beaches - https:/…

I would prefer a little bit of beach.

October is quite late for guaranteed beach weather. Perhaps look at neighbouring St. Julians which has a manmade beach, St. George's.

Tip: - be sure to investigate accommodation in that area carefully as it's near the island's nightlife zone which would be far from ideal for a quiet family holiday.

There are good premium hotels in the vicinity if your budget permits.

Any other views? I am debating between Sliema and Bugibba.

There is a lot of building work going on around St.Julians so if you want to sleep stay away from that end of Sliema.

You have a good few little parks along the promonade if you are out with a buggy walking also plenty of small coffee shops you can sit outside for coffee or a beer.

It is usually where I stay have a look at the Park Hotel they have apartments as well which can be handy with a baby.

Sliema is a lovely place to stay nice easy walks on the main bus route to Valletta and the small beach in St.Julians.

Have a look at Skyline Webcams Malta they are live webcams so it will give you a good idea.

I would say the Seabank in Mellieha would be best hotel. There are baby things and a child’s pool plus there is a large sandy beach with boat trips too.

To be honest at 6 months the baby will go happily wherever you go. Too young for play parks, and probably won't like the sandy beach. It might be an idea to book somewhere with an indoor pool in case you want to swim, since the outside pools are not heated and may be too cool. Both Sliema/St Julians and Bugibba/Qawra have lovely long promenades perfect for a stroll with the pushchair. Bars and restaurants will be welcoming to the baby and are very child friendly. Mellieha wouldn't be ideal with a pushchair since it is very hilly, with a steep hill between the village and the beach area.
