Just starting my research into hiring a car from the cruise port. We will have 2 days in port and fancy a trip out.
Can the cars be delivered to the ship or are there any local pick up/ drop off points near the port?
Any advice on any car hire companies that have been used would also be a great help.

Also consider the day trips provided by Happy Tours and Lido Tours. There is much debate on this site about the pros and cons of hiring a car on Madeira but I personally could never drive on the mainly narrow, steep and twisty roads! Whoever is driving would most likely see very little of what is a spectacularly beautiful Island.
The west and east coast tours are best.

We've used them many times over the years and found the drivers to be very knowledgeable and experienced. Full day tours are 130 Euros (cash to driver) and they will pick up from the cruise terminal. They are happy to tailor the itinerary to suit you if there particular places you'd like to see and are very responsive to emails.
