Ferry to Naples and train to Rome

We will be taking the overnight ferry from Catania to Naples and spending a few hours in Naples. Is there somewhere we can store our luggage while we visit? How far is it from the ferry station to the train station to get to Rome? What do you recommend we do if we have 5 or 6 hours before leaving for Rome?

It's probably easiest to go right to the train station from the ferry and check your bags there so they will be there when you are ready to leave.

From Porta di Massa to Napoli Centrale is a mile and a third. There is a tram in the street in front of the port that will take you to Piazza Garibaldi, across from the station. Alternately you could walk just under a half mile to the Università metro station and take that to Garibaldi.

Another possibility would be to store your luggage at the Cruise Port Terminal (very close to the dock where the Catania ship docks), then walk around the touristy part of Naples near the Castel Nuovo and Royal Palace. If you store your luggage at the train station, you will need to backtrack by metro to the areas of Naples which are of interest to tourists. Using the luggage storage at the Port might be more geographically practical, although there are also good reasons to use the luggage storage at the train station.

Thank you Gak. I will look into that. I may work better for us too.
