Train from Naples to Brindisi

I am trying to find a decent comprehensive rail map of southern Italy which shows details of local/regional lines aswell as intercity routes. We are flying to Naples for 3 days then travelling by train to Brindisi for another 3 days before flying home from Brindisi. Using a combination of rail maps and google earth I am trying to work out which would be the nicest / most scenic etc route to take from Naples to Brindisi to make the journey part of the actual experience, rather than just the quickest route. The choices seem to be Naples- Caserta- East coast down to Brindisi, or Naples - Salerno - Taranto - Brindisi. I am favouring the Salerno / Taranto route at the moment because we will explore the east coast a bit from Brindisi so would appreciate any alternative suggestions if you have them. Thank you

My default online map is openstreetmap.org , it maps railways much clearer than google.

I agree that Salerno - Taranto is the best choice for you scenerywise and it may be actually the quickest route at the same time. Direct IC from Napoli to Taranto takes only about 4 hours.

Railway sistems are neither subways nor Disney-style trains for Kids.

Your question makes no sense, but you can try on viaggiatreno.it Switch to the English version of the site and pick First Campania and the Puglia as Regions. Then zoom in.

There is today a regular train line leaving Naples areas and stopping at Caserta on its way to Foggia in northern Puglia. From there take the coastal train to Brindisi to the south. You can be blessed with travel on either train route. It is more than geography coming into play here. Taranto route has a note from world war events last century to keep you there for a short time. It might be almost as lengthy but it covers much different terrain to your benefit. We like the central peninsula route by way of Caserta to Foggia for the territory brings you close to the Gargano peninsula region. Voyage to Brindisi covers or brings you in touch with other parts of Puglia. The Taranto route does bring you in touch with parts of Basilicata for many scenic advantages worth your time like the Ionian sea for one. Southern Puglia might hold advantages for deciding where to visit other places. Lecce is not that far away and indeed deserves a visit. Please travel by train nevertheless both ways. There are local short train lines going inland in some places like to Matera from Bari. Pin point particular places to appeal to you and establish or select a list of priorities and group them according to location and proximty. Size-up your self as a legitimate tourist and match your vacation goals with priorities.
