There was once an old farm house called Fisherfield Farm on Ings Lane in Spotland, Rochdale where my sister's godfather lived and worked.

It was built in the 18th century and was a proper working farm.

We used to get the 82 bus (I think) from Whalley Range which went all the way there.

Very little else existed in the area just a dairy as I remember and certainly there were no residential properties.

I was informed in the 1970's that it had been demolished and replaced by a housing estate but recently I was told the farm house was still there so possibly it's a listed building.

I've tried to find this on Google maps but the area is so heavily developed now I'm struggling to find it.

Can anyone help identify its exact location.

Have you ruled out this Fisherfield Farm on Hargate Avenue:

https://www.rightmove.co.uk/properties/84691249#/

It's in the right area broadly, is the right age, and is surrounded (now) by houses. Although the address was Ings Lane when it was a farm, it's quite possible that the farmhouse itself now has a different road address as roads/houses have been built around it.

Firsty, you should consider putting this question on the Greater Manchester forum:

https://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/ShowForum-g187052-i235-Greater_Manchester_England.html

Secondly, take a look at these maps:

https://maps.nls.uk/geo/explore/side-by-side/#zoom=17&lat=53.62617&lon=-2.18271&layers=6&right=BingHyb

You will see Ings LAne on the old and new maps, but so far I can't see any evidence of the farm.

now gone, the farmhouse site seems to be surrounded by Downley Close and Harland Way

Those old-maps links do confirm that the Fisherfield Farm listing on Rightmove is the one the OP is looking for.

If you look at the relative position of the farm to Caldershaw Road and Rooley Moor Road on the old-maps links, it lines up with the position of Fisherfield Farm on the present day road layout on Google maps. On both the old-maps and Google maps, Fisherfield Farm is at the end of Shawfield Lane.
