3 nights is fine, I prefer Montagu to Robertson, Has good accommodation options, and restuarants, hot springs wine farms in area. Mc Gregor is interesting, I don't like it, no reason, just not my thing..... But a lot of people do like it, so check it out, maybe it's for you. Enjoy

Another thought, Depending on your plans overnight in Stanford or even Swellendam , then travel via swellendam, tradeau pass, Barrydale to ladismith to overnight, look at Mymering in Ladismith. Next day go to Prince Albert, overnight, then oudtshoorn. However that's plenty one night overnights, I hate them, prefer a base and two nights in the same place. Enjoy, sure you will get plenty more ideas

And between George and Plettenberg bay the speed limit changes a number of times..... There are quite a few camera speed traps, so stick to the speed limit, travel safely and enjoy

I second the Storms River Mouth suggestion! Storms River Mouth Restcamp is in the Tsitsikamma section of the Garden Route National Park and is regarded by many as a “not to be missed” place to stay over. The scenery is spectacular and the short hike to the suspension bridges is a “must do”!

"Suggestion for a place to stay between Oudsthoorn (sp) and Addo EP please?"

We always treat Oudtshoorn as the final (often only) stop between Cape Town and Addo.

Leave Oudtshoorn after breakfast and drive completely inland - on the road by 9am. Via De Rust, Willowmore, Steytlerville and Kirkwood. No more than 3 and a half hours to here. Good and totally empty roads - and definitely no Speed Cameras! We normally stop at the SPAR in Kirkwood for supplies for Addo. A large, well stocked and excellently priced supermarket, just as you come into the town on the right (open everyday incl Sat, Sun and Holidays until 7pm). Also a good Tops (SPAR Liquor Store - same hours except only till 1pm on Sunday).

Stocked up then it's only half an hour from Kirkwood into Addo Main Camp. Given 45 mins for shopping and you should be into your Addo chalet before 2pm and Game Driving for your first Elephants by 3pm. In the summer you still have four more hours for game driving before you need to be back in camp.

As you've driven R62 and the inland route all the way to Addo, you can drive back to Cape Town along the Coastal Route (includes the "Garden Route") or fly up to Joburg from George Airport at the end of the "Garden Route".

So past Oudsthoorn, the R62 is no longer scenic?

Was thinking of driving all the way past joubertina etc

After ADDO and Shamwari, we’ve got a week to get back to CT, where stormsriver is a potential stop
