Is it possible to visit Taal volcano as o one day trip from manila? Go with bus to Tanauan City from Manila in the morning, then do a trek to Taal lake, visit Taal volcano island and in the evening go back to Manila? Is it acctually possible to go with boat direct to Taal Volcano island?

Yes it is. Travel time is 2-3 hr.
The tip is leave very early from Manila like 6-7am. The travelling time will take a while and as a tourist, you may have difficulty navigating your way there. So make some provision for it.

I do not know do you really need to go to Tanauan City to get to Taal.
I did it by taking a bus from Manila. You can board the bus at EDSA, Taft Ave Junction. There are lots of buses going to Tagaytay.
Just ask around and the staff from any bus station and they will point you to the correct one.
I alight at Olivarez and then take a trike to a pier. Alternatively, once you alight, there will be touts that will approach you.

Thank you very much. Seems that Tagaytan is the same distance from Manila as Tanauan is. You did not go direct from Tagaytan but from Olivarez to Taal lake according to your report, am I right? Do you know if that is without problems to go to Taal Lake from Tagaytan City?
Yes. I went to Taal Volcano from Olivarez.
I do not know the directions from Tagaytan City to Taal.

Ask the conductor to drop you off at olivares terminal (100meters before tagaytay rotonda)... take the "park in the sky" jeepney. alight at Ligaya drive. Take a jeep going to talisay.
