Why "Ottawa"?

As a walked around this really interesting Capital city. I wondered why "Ottawa"? Ottawa is a very old name I suppose. It's first Nations for Otter and Water and a modern nudge on Car culture (car wall, use public transportation, bike and lower emissions). Ottawa is an eco friendly "green" city, Northern friendly, First Nations friendly. Please be respectful in the North. Great place to live, visit or home base for global trekker.

Ottawa, Love for Nature. Great city.

The original name was Bytown.

Ottawa comes from the Algonquin language - meaning to trade.

Nope. Ottawa means "trade". It used to carry canoes full of beaver & otter skins, along with fox, mink, and others. https://nationalpost.com/life/fashion-beauty…
