Saturday in city

We are just going to be in Ottawa for the morning and lunch June 30th. We would like to see any restaurants on or near canal to walk to. Where would you suggest our group try to park? I saw a post on free parking on World Exchange plaza parking garage but is that pretty central to our quick tour? Thanks!

World Exchange is fine. Pop out onto Sparks Street pedestrian mall, turn right and walk a few blocks to the Canal.

There's a bunch of restaurants on Sparks including the Ottawa hangout Darcy McGee's at the corner of Sparks & Elgin. The Café of the NAC is right on the canal, but it's pricey. So is Wilfrids at the Chateau Laurier, but it's indulgent luxury. There's a cheaper restaurant on the other side of the canal http://www.terraceonthecanal.com/daily/

Sparks Street ends at Elgin, in front of the cenotaph. That is the center of Ottawa, with the canal under your feet, the Chateau Laurier, Parliament buildings etc all around you. Have fun!

Thanks! We will look at those places when we get there. Sounds like fun. We are going to a show in Kanata in afternoon so a little pressed for time. 😀
