Trip report 1/6

Question

Trip report 01/19-20. Full pat down due to esposa’s med-devices, then “Maintenance log issues” & de-iceing… got us to ORD later, but still plenty of time for re-scheduled, later flight to CUN . (Bless the wheelchair assistance people!!  Especially in CUN - (can’t tip enough)). CARM to Juárez (nice to have a cerveza en route) . We’re the last two onto ultramar (as they were loosing the mooring lines), so we didn’t have to wait for next fairy!!

$4 taxi mid-island. Unloaded and unpacked enough to get by. Ran to Ronco for dinner supplies- before rain came in. 4 Huevos, chorizo, queso, mantequilla… $5!     Early bedtime,  rain coming in,  woke at ~1:00 ish and watched the cruise ships (3) heading south.  Waves of Caribbean put us right back to sleep.

Woke to see the sunrise over the Caribbean horizon.. my favorite part of each day here.

Wanted Caribbean Brisas for breakfast, but was opening on island time- esposa needed to eat sooner, popping lifesavers to maintain sugar level, ended up at Mango’s had a nice breakfast.    Got a golf cart this trip, (never had one before) delivered to the house.

Toured the island by golf cart - so many changes since last trip, drove up the Baja - (never been). Ended at Chedraui. Stopped at Kash KeKen Chuc for some poc chuc -and a chicken - and an extra roasted onion (lunch and dinners for today, (maybe tomorrow?)

Had found some flor de caña at Chedraui, so afternoon is relaxing poolside, watching the beautiful Caribbean Sea crash the shore… disfrutando la isla

Ronco is a local tienda near Mango cafe. I am the espousa. We used Ronco when we first come to Isla Mujeres, before the big grocery store.

We made it to Caribbean Brisas for a nice dinner and live music (really relaxing)

Walked home, avoiding the puppy piles (this is not the place for Disney lovers-it’s real)

For northerners - it’s hard that the warm weather does not come with a late sunset. Watched some more cruise ships chugging south. Night cap and bed. So nice to hear the ocean all night.

Morning coffee as the sun rose over the sea, a beautiful beautiful morning, sea, sky.

Hard to venture out when the day and ocean are so nice- so spent the morning on the patio, what a day. Lunch was ham and cheese on Chedraui tortillas.

Had to drive to town to gas up the carrito, pretty sure this is just to get a tip. But they did give me the trick for settling the parking break (was using rocks). Reminded me why we don’t spend much time at centro, had to take three passes before figuring out that the place is on Haldago and you can drive to it-? We walked to playa Norte- (can now say we went to the beach) and had a coconut popsicles under a shady palm.

Found the rainbow stairs, (one more tic on the never done that list,) drove past Sacred Heart and the beading place.

Drove past the grocery store in colonies that we would walk to on our first trip (pre-Chedraui).

Probably heading to Brisas for guac or ceviche,
