Safety of bags in car on St. John?

We are checking out of our condo but still spending the day on St. John and wanting to go to Honeymoon beach. Obviously will need to leave our bags/stuff in our car.

Would our best option be to park at the ferry terminal and take the taxi from there, or park at the Caneel bay entrance and shuttle in, or would the Westin let us park there and take the taxi/shuttle from there? We have generally left nothing on our car and left it open, but this isn’t an option for the day so any advice on safest place to park is appreciated!

If you’re staying at the Westin, I’d ask them to hold your bags. You can also ask your car rental agency to hold them.

Depending on the day and whether they’re open, Connections, a business in town, may hold them as well.

I would not leave them in the car.

Thanks for your reply- unfortunately we are at a condo and moving to St. Thomas for a few days- so no where to leave them unless we go over to STT and then return by ferry. Was thinking of catching the taxi service from the Westin so just wondered if we could park there. Sounds like a risky proposition, thanks though!

You should post this on the St John forum directly - most people don't look at the general USVI forum.

I try to not leave anything in the car in general, but departure date is a challenge. We have for instance parked at Havensight to do a bit of shopping on the way to STT but the car is parked in the open (front lot) and we haven't had issues. I'd try to find out if 1.) the Caneel lot has security, or 2.) if you can leave your bags at the Westin front desk and taxi back & forth. Good luck!

Thanks Ed s - will cross post and see what we can figure out.

The suggestion for Connections was a good lead but they are not storing luggage due to Covid.
