DO NOT visit Puerto Rico until Covid restrictions are lifted

Just finished an 8 day vacation in PR and the irrational Covid restrictions ruined the entire trip. Every time you walk in a store or restaurant you are forced to have your temperature checked and use hand sanitizer. Every major attraction is limited because of Covid. Going to El Yunque is impossible unless you pay for an expensive tour because of limited tickets. We even had to make reservations to swim in the pool at the place we stayed and could only use it for 1 hour. Wait to visit. Not worth the money or hassle to travel here only to be limited in what you can do.

Well. How unfortunate you traveled to an area that wants to mitigate the spread of a disease for which they don’t have an infrastructure to handle. I see you are also a one-poster so maybe you didn’t do much research here before you traveled. Had you, you would have know about said restrictions. Cheers!

With the new executive order that went into effect on 07 June 2021, temperature checks upon entering businesses are no longer required by the government. That has been left up to the business to decide if they want to continue that practice. I've noticed this week that most are continuing with that.

Part of the "limited access" (required ticket, etc) to El Yunque NF has to do with COVID, but it also has to do with the fact that the US Forest Service has still not been able to reopen all of the trails, etc following damage done by IRMA & MARIA in 2017. Entry tickets ARE available without "an expensive tour" -- we have been able to go to the forest a number of times over the past months -- no problem getting a reservation -- just need to plan ahead.

And yet you knew (or very well should have known) of exactly all of these restrictions. You still chose to travel, now you want to complain. Unreal.

We bought the plane tickets last year assuming Covid would be long gone by know. Hopefully one day I'll be as smart as you and can see into the future.

These are all good reasons to SELECT PR as a destination. Covid restrictions have been conservative and responsible here, making it safer and better for everyone. The temp scan has become the norm here and it is reassuring to everyone and a spritz of hand sanitizer is nice. The restrictions are being lowered and capacity limitations have been reduced to the symbolic. Most restaurants would be ecstatic to be 75% full and it spreads us out a bit.

Most important is that the people have taken the problem seriously and have reduced risks for everyone. The disease levels are now small and have been among the lowest levels in the country throughout the pandemic.

So sorry you had to be clean and have your temperature taken, that must have been VERY difficult for you!!

I feel SO much safer in PR than I do on the mainland because they take it more seriously. The temp check and hand sanitizer takes approximately half a second…to help keep people safe and alive. I’ll gladly take the half second “inconvenience” to help save lives. Honestly I feel like the hand sanitizer thing should be standard everywhere forever. If you don’t want any restrictions go to florida or Texas where they seem like they could care less about anyone but themselves.

"We bought the plane tickets last year assuming Covid would be long gone by know."

Because no one could predict how long this ongoing pandemic would last, most -if not all- airlines offered flight changes and even cancelations. So there's really no excuse to complain.

All of the points you presented have been well documented on this forum. So what's really irrational is to complain now without having done proper research before your trip. Sorry to say.

We are here now and having a great time. We chose PR because at this time because of those protocols even though we are vaccinated we respect the efforts they have made to stop the spread including testing or vaccine for entry and temperature checks sanitizing and masks. Because these have worked curfews are being lifted and bars and more are now open and restaurants have higher capacity.
