Hello does anybody know if you need a covet test to return back to the United States mainland? We are returning home our airport is Chicago O'Hare. We do not live in Chicago but I was just reading that the mayor of Chicago is requiring a test or a 10-day quarantine. However when you look on the CDC website it states that you do not need to have a test to return back to the mainland from Puerto Rico. Anybody have any advice about this?

Not all states require it, and the CDC site cannot keep up with all of the changes that happen day to day, so it's best to check with the state itself.

If you are traveling to an airport in which city it is a requirement, then you should probably do it because you will be asked to present evidence before exiting the airport.

You do not need a negative COVID test to return to Chicago. Chicago has a guideline that lists certain states where this applies to, but it's not enforced in any way. It also only applies to certain states (constantly being updated) and PR counts have gone down a lot lately. Finally, the guideline doesn't apply to vaccinated travelers.

You will be fine. Need a COVID test to enter PR, nothing at ORD if coming from PR.

The others are correct. You do not need a test to leave PR, but your own locality might have different rules at the time of your travel. You need to keep track of those regulations to be certain of the requirements
