Tipping

Hi! When tipping at a resort, can I use USD or do I need to convert my money to Domincan pesos? If so, where and how do you do that. How much do you normally tip for services (bartender, room service, transportation, etc.)

USD. Do a search on tipping and thousands of responses will come up otherwise this thread will just start arguments.

I'm here in Punta Cana right now. I tip at dinner, maid service and good service in general. I tip with USD. Bring singles and $5s. A lot of people do not tip but quite a bit do. If you are happy with service a few bucks goes a long way and they will remember you.

Curious minds want to know. Are Europeans in favor of tipping or not so much?

Tipping is a personal choice and yes, some countries are used to it and some are not. I certainly don't pay attention to other guests and watch who does what. I do tip when on vacation because I feel it is greatly appreciated by hard working staff.
