I would suggest you do some searching through the hotels and reviews here first. Narrow it down and then you can ask for some pros and cons of each. Your description fits 80% of all resorts.

Consider breathless or Now Onyx. Lots of options. Very good quality.

Check out Riu Palace Macao, Punta Cana Princess, Majestic Mirage and Catalonia Royal Bavaro.

Thanks foodman. We have been looking at the resorts for days and my head is spinning. We just want something clean and fun with a nice beach. We’ve never stayed at a resort so we have no idea what to expect or look for. We have noticed they look like you have to walk a ways to get to the beach? Is that depending on where your room is on the resort?

The ones I mention are smaller resorts. All rooms are not far from the beach. There are bigger resorts where you may have to take a tram car to the beach.

Look at the Viva Wyndham's Beach at Bayahibe. The buildings are all parallel to the Caribbean and the restaurants are feet from the Caribbean so you sleep, sunbathe and eat just feet from the Caribbean.

Cruises on the Caribbean including drive-yourself speed boats depart from Bayahibe harbour.

Beaches are nice but they are having trouble some days with the seaweed. La Romana has nice beaches. Have you ever considered Negril Jamaica?
