I have a two night cabin reservation Sept 29 & 30. I already know I can't go up the Gorge to Hood River then circling down 35/26 to cabin. It looks like there are controlled fires in this area. Should I cancel reservation and head to the coast for the entire 8 days I'm in Oregon? Thanks for the advice.

You should be good. I trust that you are going up to see Timberline Lodge. You can stay on top of the road conditions in Oregon online with "TripCheck" Also in Washington state online is " WSDOT".
