We are two families travelling in september to minorca and need a resort close to the airport, relatively flat for buggies, close to beach, and enough resteraunts, sight, activities to keep us occupied for a week, have looked at Binibeca and Punta prima for their short distance from airport but worried we end uo somewhere too quiet. Any info would be appreciated, thanks.

Only you can say what is "too quiet". Neither place you mention is a "buzzing resort" and it very much depends WHEN in September you are going which resorts may be starting to wind down in guest numbers .

Unless you are travelling to the west coast resorts, nowhere is a really long was away fro mthe airport especially if you take a taxi or have a hire car . There is a route finder Top Question which you can use to judge distance and real time travelling times from the airport to any place on the island. Of the resorts closest to the airport Cala N'Porter will probably have more to do in the evenings and has a good beach but most of that resort is up at clifftop level with a series of steps down to the beach ( or a long walk along the access road) which is an issue for some people.

Thanks for reply Cala n Porter was our first choice but decided against it because of the steps to the beach, the further resorts i.e 45km would prob be a bit too much of a car ride for our little ones after our long flight, have just been looking at Son Bou, do you know much of this resort?

Binnibecca is a lovely resort with a lovely safe beach for children and a great beach bar... But the resort is mainly private villas, there are a few restaurants - but no buzzing night life! Punta Prima is a much larger commercialised resort with large hotels. Both these resorts are closer to Mahon so easy to access during the day with young ones. It really depends what you want to do ... If you hire a car there are a lot of towns nearby that you can visit - San Lluis, 10 mins from binnibecca, has a range of good tapas bars etc.

Son bou is a fair way from mahon and more of a self contained resort .

It really depends on what you want to do.

Son Bou is harder/further to beach if you want to stay in a Villa ( they are all on a hillside )

Binibequer/Binibeca is going to be quiet second half of september onwards and only has three buses a day. It's more about villas/hire cars

Cala galdana is good for buggies and about 30 mins from airport.

If you're not getting a car I'd suggest Punta Prima as it has more family friendly, well priced restaurants, Binibeca tends to be a bit more pricey. There is also a good supermarket, a few shops and car/bike hire, etc.If you fancy a day out you can get the road-train to Binibeca (stay on to the end see Binibeca Vell then walk back for 10 mins and see the beach and dive club/bar).

We stay in Binibeca most years but think you'd need a car. Both these places are OK if you have a push chair, not that we have had for years. Cala Galdana and Son Bou are also smashing but a bit hilly in parts. Santa Thomas might be good, not too hilly but possibly less busy. With any of these you won't go too far wrong.
