Walking

Hi we will be staying at Korcula for three days. We both love to go for a leisurely stroll which usually means a few miles :) Starting at the town are there some nice coastal walks. Thank you

1. Re: Walking

If you look at google earth you can see a road that goes from the Old Town along the sea and then it wraps around above the Old Town where you can park a car up on the road....some absolutely gorgeous views from up there...we parked our van up there as there wasn't much parking near the Old Town and walked up to get it when needed and took some awesome pictures from up there. This is assuming you mean Korcula Town.

The western side has Zrnovska Banja, the eastern side has Lumbarda.

PS/ You can also take the passenger boat over to Orebic (15 minutes) and walk up to Podgorje.

Thanks JoJo. We are travelling to Korcula from Dubrovnik and I'm thinking of getting a coach up to Orebic and getting the ferry across to Korcula. I'm thinking this gives us a little bit more flexibility and plus we will be able to have a wander around before catching the ferry. Do you think this will be a good way of seeing a bit more of the coast.

I think it's better if you go directly to Korcula and check in to your accommodations. Not sure of the buses to Orebic from Dubrovnik. You won't want to be hauling luggage around Orebic, and not sure if there's any luggage storage facilities. If you're travelling in July/Aug you have 3 choices to get to KT on the water: Krilo, Jadrolinija, and G&V Line "Nona Ana" catamarans. Check which one suits your timing.

It's better going to Korcula Town first and depositing your luggage. All but one of the buses between Dubrovnik and Orebic go straight on to Korcula.

Thanks JoJo. We are travelling with hand luggage only. I might regret that decision 😀 We leave Dubrovnic for Korcula on Saturday 30 June so I'm not sure if the ferries will have started running. We will have a look around and see what our best options are whilst we are in Dubrovnic. One way or another well get there.

Not sure all this organising is good for me, my hair has already gone grey😀

Wait 'til you see the water. You might actually want to swim.. Catamarans depart from Gruz, and the main bus station is there too. It is about 2kms or so from the walled old city.
