Hi, Is it okay to take a Power Bank (and Android Tablet) in my carry on luggage?
Thanks,
Den
Yes - I do it all the time! I also carry a power cord and adapter and plug in while I am waiting in the airport.
Thanks Polly
Hi,
Yes, as Polly says. In fact I was at Air Asia check in desk yesterday and there is a prominent notice on the desk that states 'power banks must not be put in checked baggage', so you should only take then in your hand baggage.
Cheers
Most airlines now prohibit power banks (and lithium batteries) in check in luggage, but they are fine in hand luggage. You may be asked to remove your tablet from your bag to put it through the x-ray separately to your bag at security checks.
I think it would be better to have your tablet in your hand luggage anyway rather than in checked baggage. That way you will know it is safe and not subject to being thrown about by the baggage handlers.
They took my powerbank at a flight from Shenzhen to Shanghai. It was in my hand luggage.
I had to remove my powerbank from my bag to put it through the x-ray separately at security checks.
They took it and told me it was not allowed to take it with me. After asking why, they pointed at a, in Chinese written, information letter on the wall. Of course I couldn't read it, there could be written anything!!
It made me so angry cause they kept it without any warning or sign of prohibition before entering the x-ray room. Don't get me wrong, the prohibited objects as a lighter, screwdriver or any liquid are fine to take from me, these are written and general rules.
My flight from Shanghai to HongKong, with the power bank in my hand luggage, was no problem at all!
Having just taken a few internal flights in China I would suggest that kristen above unfortunately met the wrong airport officials when she had her power bank confiscated. It seemed to me that almost every young Chinese traveller was using a power bank.
Enjoy your time in Bali Denzah.
You can take a power pack with you in the carry on laggauage.
However PEK Beijing, China with convicaste the power pack if the power pack does not clerly show the power output. Also you are only allowed to take 2 power packs on to the plane.
I have seen security take power pack from travellers bags and throw them in a box which contains hundreds of power paks

I have seen security take power pack from travellers bags and throw them in a box which contains hundreds of power packs. One the the travellers was in my group. I had checked various web sites including the china airlines and there is nothing stating the power out put to be labelled on the device.
Only when you get to the airport security there is a sign on the wall which of course is then way to late to do any thing about it !
The device taken from my party was a Power Monkey Classic which has no markings for power output.
Has anyone taken a power bank with clear output information on Ethiopian Airlines? I am traveling from Comox BC to London UK to Addis Ababa Ethiopia then to Kilimanjaro Tanzania via three airlines, Air Canada, Lufthansa, and Ethiopian. The only airline that mentions power banks is Ethiopian airlines and the write up is confusing.
