Airlines

Why does airlines not have a min.2kg TARE on all Luggage It is not fare an empty bag already swallows 3 kg off your luggage allowance some instances even more.

Some considerations should be given to this issue.We don’t ask for all wait but min.2kg across the board.I think this will be a fair result in weight issues.Not everyone can afford light weight bags or to replace the luggage bags you already own.

Let’s be fair in life.

Thank you.

Hi Mohammed;

Wrong forum. This forum, the “TripAdvisor Support” forum is for general questions and assistance using the TripAdvisor site itself. It's not meant to answer questions a member might have about travelling.

As a new user of the forums, it's always a good idea to read the "sticky" at the top of the forum’s page before posting, if there is one. The sticky will explain the focus/purpose of the forum, important information, and other details. As an example, the sticky at the top of this forum is;

"PLEASE READ: How to use the Support forum!" and has a push-pin icon beside it.

You may wish to post your concern on the "Air Travel" forum. That forum is...

Hello Mohammed Navaaz Z, you can also call the airline company you are talking about, and submit your question/concern/suggestion directly to them. Every commercial airline (and Economy, Business and First Class of each commercial airline) has different regulations, as far as the carry-on and checked-in luggage weight and dimension allowance. There must be the info on all this on any commercial airline website, and you can also also inquire the info from a travel agency, if you use their service for your travels. By the way, travel agents usually know the latest regulations of commercial airline companies.

"from the Tripadvisor Support forum to the Air Travel forum"

TA_Veynard;

Respectfully, you haven't moved it at all. It is still here on the support forum.

Best Regards

@ OP

I guess you also expect that the bone of e.g. a T-Bone steak is deducted from the weight billed to you, because the bone can't be eaten.

Basically you are asking that the airlines increase the weight allowance by 2 kg. But that isn't always possible. E.g. in Business Class most airlines allowe bags of up to 32 kg. This is the legal limit (at a lot of airports) to protect baggage handlers.

It's simpler to have one overall weight allowance that automatically caters for people with bags that are heavy when empty. If they didn't then airlines would have to empty everyone's bag at checkin to ensure the bag wasn't too heavy

The bag doesn't weigh nothing, they still have to transport that weight...

This question is ridiculous - passengers are given a weight limit for their baggage (hand baggage and bags going into the hold) and if those individuals chose to use bags which weigh a lot as opposed to more lightweight ones then that is tough - it is their own choice.

Passengers need to accept that if they are using heavy bags that the weight of those bags will reduce the amount of clothing they can put inside them before the weight limit specified is reached. All this stuff about people who cannot afford to replace the heavier luggage bags they already own being unfairly penalised by not having featherweight ones is utter nonsense.

There are weight limits specified by the airline and it is up to individual passengers to work out how they will comply with those limits - whether by using lighter luggage (their own or borrowed from friends)_so that they can pack more items inside them, or by accepting that they need to pack less inside their existing bags to avoid excess baggage charges

Our carry on duffle bag is from KMart. Cost $25, weighs very little, and has a lot of volume. We've used them for carry-on only travel before.

Carry on is mostly what you choose it to be. And this is not meant to be a 'smarty' answer, but if you can afford to fly, you could buy a $25 bag for when you need it.
