Is the rent of a timeshare good and safe?

Hi guys;

I just visited one site to get more idea about timeshare. Then I read an article for renting a timeshare which was interesting for me because I didn't know that much about renting timeshare. On the other hand I have concern or question in this regard:

Is it safe to rent a timeshare?

I think this is good topic to be discussed here. At least for me...

By the way the link of that article is just in case:

See you here soon

Rent direct from the number one timeshare exchange company - Wyndham Worldwide, the parent of RCI, through their sister company Wyndham Vacations, no hassles, excellent rates, excellent cancellation policy, selections world wide. We have used them for Aruba, Sint Maarten and Florida in the past.

Discounts for last minute travel and for AARP members who can link through the AARP website.

I would contact the timeshare resort and make sure the person renting the timeshare actually owns there before sending any monsy. I also call the person and talk to them. it worries me sionce on line there is so much fraud

I have sent a confirmation number to people I have rented to, asked them to contact the resort themselves to ensure that the confirmation information is correct. The I ask for the payment transaction. When everything goes through, I email the confirmation certificate. I guess you have to trust in them enough that they won't cancel the confirmation on you.

I have also provided a reference or two of others who have rented from me in the past...so don't be afraid to ask for references. I usually keep in telephone contact with the person I rent to, it puts everyone at ease to actually speak to a person.

When I first rented, I too was a little leary, but rented directly from owner(s) and it all worked out and was totally satisfied. In fact, Cabo became one of our vacation spots, and we ended up purchasing one of the timeshares which we us most times and do occasionally rent. The other replies gave some good information. Good luck.

We rent from (and rent out our units) on redweek.com We've never had a problem. By renting directly from an owner, you'll probably end up paying around what the owner is paying for their annual maintenance fee. The economy is down and the rental market is flooded, so renters are getting great deals.

Good luck with your rental, and have a great vacation. :)
