Trained from Inari Station to Uji Station, a short 3 to 5mins walk to Main Shop.
Nakamura Tonkichi entrance has a '+'to fisnthuish it from another cafe nearer to Uji Station.
There was a long numbered queue ahead of us for the restaurant.
We ordered a green tea, red bean jelly and a chocolate cake from the annexed shop to snack whilst waiting.
Both were good.
Shop has tea tasting to help u decide your purchase.
We didn't get to eat in the restaurant roper as the wait list was just too long.
There's another branch by the river near Byodin Omotesando n looks more charming. Will try this branch when I next visit.

To come to Kyoto, if you like to make tea, you must go to the universe pilgrimage of the country of making tea.
The headquarters of Tsumura Tōji is located in front of the Wujing Station, which is a must-see place.
It is recommended that everyone come as early as possible and come to pick up first, because at 10 a.m. there are already many people,
I will have to wait about 2 hours at 11 a.m. But the advantage is that you can go around here after finishing the preparation,
As long as the QR code on the scanner can see the status of the calling number, do not be afraid to miss.
In fact, there are two stores in Kyoto, but the tea factory is more attractive.
During the waiting time, you can also visit the store next door to buy handcuffs.
In the middle there is a Japanese-style garden, and there are some chairs placed in the courtyard for everyone to sit on a level.
Through the garden is the place to eat, the floor is high and the seats are wide.
After a good meal, a pot of tea will be delivered first and placed on the table after waiting about 3 minutes.
It is very fragrant yellow rose, on the card is written how to make tea.
You can add hot water to bubble on your own, the late tea bag can withstand a bit of tea taste will be relatively thick, but not too thick.
Because time is faster, this time only enough time to eat two limited desserts.
まると pafe[玉露] (JPY 1950) with frozen bamboo cylinders.
This dessert has many layers, taste and taste are very rich, and there is also a card that will write what stew is in it.
The surface layer is poured on turmeric powder, with fresh cream part is made with turmeric tea leaves,
Though very thick, it has no imaginable taste.
The most special thing to say is that there are lemons and apples inside, which make the dessert fresh.
And there is also milk, ice cream and more, plus raw tea and fruit frozen, white nuts, etc.
Green Tea Zeri (JPY 1500) is a classic product.
The smooth tea and fry are slightly bitter, with sweet red beans to eat just fine.
The steady white carrot adds a taste, plus a thick tea flavored mashed ice cream, which does not like to eat too sweet desserts optional.
Total: JPY 3450 (10% VAT included)
In addition to desserts, other main foods are also interested, and maybe there's another chance to visit the universe.

You can get nice views of the Uji river when you have you matcha desert fix. The place if extremely busy and crowded and it’s difficult to get a got seat with nice views.
The items on the menu are very overpriced and it caters almost exclusively to tourists.
The items are a tag too sweet for my liking but this is personal.
Overall, it is worth a visit just for the nice views.

Very cute building. Got a ticket when they opened at 10 am. Was given number 55. The estimation for the wait was not accurate. Was told 45 mins and it ended up taking close to 2 hours. I would recommend going to one of the other many matcha restaurants in town and just coming to the shop to buy matcha.

I bought the soda with matcha, I think there is ginger ale, I don’t like it but my mom enjoys it. It’s basically sprite with matcha with ginger ale. Bit weird, I can’t taste the matcha but I can taste the sprite and ginger ale. My mom bought an intense premium matcha latte. I tried hers, I really like it, so we basically switched our drinks around😂. We also bought a medium sized matcha parfait, it was really good! There was jelly, mini rice balls, matcha ice cream, 2 matcha biscuits with matcha whip cream between (matcha whip cream sandwich😂) and regular whip cream on top. Overall this place is very matcha themed, but very delicious, and unlike some other places, they have a clean and private toilet where you can do your business 😂. This place is really good but I inform you to improve the soda matcha drink

During a Zen meditation tour in Kyoto, I was recommended a matcha restaurant a bit outside the city center, so I decided to give it a try. If I remember correctly, it was about a 30-minute JR train ride. Honestly, it was so worth the trip. The matcha here was amazing!!!! It felt like such an authentic experience, and I could really sense that this is where true matcha is made. It ended up being one of the highlights of my trip.

Happened to just stroll past this store and popped in. Interesting during my 30min there, endless streams of locals would pop in and replenish their supply of tea. Guess you cannot go wrong then!
Bought some tea as gifts for family and friends. There was a staff named Jon who spoke English so that helped a lot. There is a tea tasting station there too so you can taste and decide what suits your palate. Customer service was excellent. There is an in-house cafe as well but packed and fully booked. You may wish to visit since it’s highly recommended as well.

Overall, worth the wait due to the views and the taste. I think it was mostly tourist and the price seemed a little overpriced. However, this is expected since this is the main store of Nakamura Tokichi which is a very famous matcha brand in Japan.

The storefront and appearance are picturesque.
This is a famous tea shop in Uji that was founded in the Edo period.
This is a representative group of buildings that well preserves the history of Uji tea production in modern times.
It has been designated as an important component of the National Important Cultural Landscape "Uji Cultural Landscape".
I had never heard of Nakamura Tokichi until I visited here.
I visited Ito Kyuemon, which was introduced to me at the tourist information center.
I'm also known for bottled tea when it comes to Uji.

This famous tea shop, which also has a busy tea room, is almost 200 years old. Awarded the Cultural Landscape Award, this shop truly has the widest selection of teas, each with its own box to smell the aroma. The tea is not expensive, as the shop would suggest and there are also tastings to understand the differences between the various blends. The staff is very courteous, speaks English. I would have liked to try the restaurant or even just have tea but the queue was too long. Tax free available and it is also possible to pay by credit card

I've been waiting for half an hour. Don't forget to take a number plate.
The seats next to each other were full of foreigners, people from Hong Kong, China and Korea. It's the scary Internet age. My husband and I came by chance and entered (laughs)
I don't eat much parfait, but I definitely recommend this one. It looked and tasted perfect!

Nakamura Tokichi is a famous tea shop popular with both locals and tourists. The Honten (main branch) was originally the tea factory and was designated as an Important Cultural Landscape. It now houses a shop and a restaurant. It is only a few minutes walk from the JR Uji Station. You should definitely visit if you like matcha.
We arrived around 11:30am on a weekday and immediately picked up a queuing ticket from the machine. There was a QR code on the ticket and you could check the approximate waiting time and queuing status by scanning the code. While you wait for a table, take some time to admire the 250-year-old black pine called “Horai Funamatsu” in the courtyard. It is one of the 100 famous trees of Uji.
We were lucky that we only waited for around 30 minutes for a table. Shincha was offered as welcome tea once we were seated. We ordered the matcha namacha jelly and the matcha maruto parfait. Both were served in a bamboo cup which was unique to the Honten. The jelly had a rich flavour of matcha. The taste was well-balanced and not too sweet. The parfait was composed of layers of different ingredients and had complex flavours. Both desserts were absolutely delicious and portions were quite generous. The staff were very friendly.
We visited the shop after enjoying the desserts. A wide range of Japanese tea and tea confections were available which made perfect souvenirs and gifts. We particularly like the Cha feuille (crepe dentelle covered with matcha chocolate) and would definitely go and get more the next time we are in Kyoto. While you are in the shop, do not forget to take a look at the haiken-mado (looking window), a traditional architectural feature associated with tea sellers. The haiken-mado could also be seen on the street side.

Southern Kyoto
Southern Kyoto has a reserved air. Though the Fushimi Inari Shrine is one of Kyoto's major tourist attractions, the surrounding nature, parks, gardens, temples, and shrines provide less-visited spaces for strolling and reflection. The Fushimi Inari Shrine itself is made up of 32,000 sub-shrines, and the mountain they are dotted across beckons hikers, picnickers, and lovers of the outdoors. Many of the mountain's off-set paths aren't frequented by tourists, and the mountain's serenity can be enjoyed at a leisurely pace. Southern Kyoto is the place to enjoy being outside, and to pay your respects to the ancient architecture and gods of the land that are celebrated here.
