About
Motherland Spice is a family run restaurant started in 2012. Since opening we have been highly successful because of our unique, authentic Indian & Nepalese cuisine. Motherland Spice has brought expert chefs from India & Nepal to bring the real taste of authentic cuisne in Britain. We are famous in Scotland for our 'Chicken Tikka Baja' and 'Lamb Tawa' dishes and are proud to be the only restaurant in Scotland to serve these two dishes. We also specialise in our South-Indian cuisine. At Motherland Spice we like to think of our food as a journey, one during which we can take you places which will excite, places you might not have thought of going, but ones you will enjoy once you get there. Staying in Largs for a few days on holiday and found this amazing Indian on the Internet. The restaurant is in Saltcoats which is about half an hour away from Largs. Contacted through Facebook and they agreed to deliver to Largs so ordered. Was delivered...within an hour and it was absolutely amazing. Been a while since we had a really nice curry back home and this didn't disappoint. Ordered the chicken achari and the chicken was tender with a thick flavoursome hot and spicy sauce and the keema with peas. Absolutely delicious with decent sized portions which was cooked home style, leaving us with enough leftover for another meal. Chapatis are good size and the spicy onion chutney is completely homemade. Can't recommend enough and we would definitely return when in the area.More

We had ordered our food tonight and there was a slight issue. We phoned the restaurant to advise - not complain and credit to the owner , he addressed the situation and rectified personally. This was going above and beyond . It was our first...time using the restaurant , the quality of the food was superb , the customer service was exceptional and the whole experience was fabulous! I would highly recommend this restaurant and we will defo be using again. So nice to find a restaurant who are passionate about the food the service and the overall experience . Well done !! We were visiting the local holiday park and booked on a whim and oh my, I’m so glad we did. On arrival there is the usual hand sanitisers and screen dividers between booths for Covid safety but wait for this; they also have a hand...pump sanitiser on each table just for extra safety. Brilliant! We had the table buffet for 2 people. The starters were sublime; tandoori chicken, haggis, chicken and fish pakora and chicken Basra which was awesome. For mains we opted for the chicken biriyani, butter chicken and South Indian chilli chicken with basmati rice and a cheesy garlic naan bread. Every bit was super fresh and delicious. My OH has a huge appetite but even my OH was beat into submission by the portions. However, as we hadn’t eaten it all, the lovely girls brought takeaway tubs for me to take the huge leftovers home. We had 2 bottles of Kopparberg fruity ciders and 2 large glasses of Pinot Grigio and all-in for food, drinks and a 12% tip we were £50. Beautiful food, nice wine and all at a decent price too. What’s not to love? The wait staff and management were lovely and so accommodating, we most definitely will be back! Thank you Motherland Spice and all your staff for giving us a lovely last night of our holidays xxxxMore

I have really missed coming here for lunch/dinner. Due to Covid, parents shielding and the traveling rules, etc, I haven't been here since February. I've missed the place like mad. Best food ever. I'm from Glasgow and during lockdown etc I think I have tried...just about every Indian restaurant here. Not one of them can match Motherland Spice. The food is outstanding, the service is always terrific and I can't fault the place. I can't wait to go back, hopefully sooner, rather than later. Best restaurant and best food ever. I'll be getting the huge table buffet next time I go.More

We were driving back via the coast after visiting friends and ended up in Saltcoats. We searched trip for recommendation and this place popped up. To be honest when we arrived, we would probably have driven past and didnt feel differently on the inside. However,...we were starving and i have to say that omg everything was fantastic and really good value. Definitely somewhere i would seek out if in the area and recommend to others. Dont drive by, go in as you will not be disappointed!!More

1st Wedding Anniversary booked into Seamill Hydro and didnt fancy the menu so booked here instead. Shared chicken poori and haggis pakora. Chicken poori was amazing!! Then shared a korma, rice, nan and chips and honestly couldnt fault any of it. Our fave Indian restaurant...closed in Glasgow a few years ago and this food matched it. Will 100% be back for a visit when back in the area. Staff were just lovely and everything is well priced. Toilet was dirty and could do with a make over but the place was soooo busy it could have happened right before I went in. Cant wait to visit again. Thank you all so much. XMore

We arrived on a cold wet September day,but the day soon changed with the warm welcome we received from the wonderful staff. We opted to choose from the main menu as it was so well priced and great value for money. When the starters came...they were beautifully presented with great size potions and wonderful aromas and flavours. I chose the chicken tikka main and having worked in the restaurant industry. This was by far the best I have ever tasted. This place is 10 out of 10 in every way and it doesn't surprise me that they were rated as top five best Indian restaurant in Scotland from the Hearld. Well done and keep up the great work This is truly ayrshires hidden gem. Can't wait to go back.More
