This place is a hidden gem. It was recommended by an Air B&B owner, so we decided to try it and drove through some really scary areas to find it. That said, it is a well kept restaurant on the beach with a very diverse...menu and good service. It was somewhat pricey, but not over the top. All in All, I would go there again.More

A great combination of location, great service and wonderful food. Hands down the best hamburger in the region. The Mahi-Mahi-mahi was wonderful as well. The menu has something for everyone.

So good we went twice, once during the day and another during the evening. The staff was extremely nice and attentive. The food was very good and the drinks were excellent. I would recommend the tica Linda Our waiter was outstanding spoke very good English...and made sure our drinks were full.More

This place was good! We went due to other folks' reviews of it. It is definitely more pricey than some other restaurants and caters to tourists...but the food was good. We had appetizers and fish and chips that were really good, and the drinks were...great! It's right on the beach, outdoor dining, and we saw the most amazing sunset. Would be a great place to hang out on the beach and then have snacks/happy hour. We just went one night for dinner, was slightly off the beaten path from where we were staying in town.More

Easily the best restaurant in the area. Luckily, our condo was within walking distance. The food and cocktails were great, and the service was even better. Special thanks to the manager, Luis, who made us feel extra special! He definitely made our trip even better...than it already was! Pura Vida FR and much love to LA DS!!More

We have a home in Ocotal and eat here often. Service is always great and the food are always excellent. Ask for the daily specials. We just had the octopus in a coffee sauce which was amazing. Wednesdays are sushi day and if the have...the whole fried fish when you are there...get it! The house hot sauce is excellent, Great cocktails and a great beach to enjoy them on.More

Father Roosters is always fun with good food and great drinks. The beach location, literally tables on the beach, creates a relaxed evening under the stars. We had been to Father Roosters on past trips and were glad to see the restaurant had grown in...popularity and size without losing its charm. We went twice and one night enjoyed live music. Try the ceviche, for sure, with its delicious flavors and presentation. One of the top ceviches around! Also the drink specials are delicious and potent. For a fun night out, go to Father Roosters….good for a couple or a crowd.More

Location is great, fast food accordingly as a beach place. Extremely unpleasant flies everywhere, on everything. Management could take measures to avoid this plague. How unfortunate, because this place has lots of potential. It is a win/win situation, some investment from owners and tons of...visits and happiness from guests, that logically will translate in revenue's increase.More

We were staying at Playa Ocotol so we ate here quite a bit. The atmosphere is nice, tables set out on the sand under a canopy of trees and lights. We found the seafood dishes to be comprised of cheap, flavorless fish. Very disappointing. The...surprise was the Burger!! Honestly one of the best I’ve ever eaten, and that’s saying something! The portobello burger was also amazing. Salads were pretty good but drinks were very weak. We don’t recommend the mojito-margarita. Live music on Wednesday night was fun.More

So the location is worth the price. Its right on the beach (although some landscaping between tables and beach) and the sunset was amazing. One hint is to reserve a front table beforehand for best experience. The food was decent and the drinks were good,...but found prices high for the quality (but location compensated). If in the area, I would recommend coming for a sunset dinner.More

Thank you for your message. No, you cannot walk from the RIU to the Father Rooster. It is about a 15 minute boat ride or about a 30 minute car ride. We are very close to Playa del Coco. Good luck with your visit. And... More

Consider a water taxi as well. As the crow flies, the Riu Palace is the next bay over. In a taxi, you have to drive into Cocos then back out to the Palace. Not sure how expensive it would be...
