The general attitude is “we don’t make an effort to be pleasant! They just drop the order on your table! We had ‘rali’ The traditional drink of Crete. They pour it in a glass with ice without asking us. Not recommend it.

We didn't stop here long but it was a nice place to visit and stop for a coffee. The premise is very pretty and is a traditional restaurant. Worth a stop if your out walking
Good quality food and wine service was excellent will we go again yes menu plentiful to give your appetite well worth a visit
We dined here few times to try almost everything in menu, and everything was great and tasty. We especially loved tyropitas, salads, goat and kleftiko.
I have been a patron of Kivotos Taverna for over a decade of summers spent in Greece. The menu selections range from traditional Cretan to European familiar favorites. The portions are reasonable in size, and the food is carefully seasoned so individual flavors are not...overwhelmed. Salt is used sparingly, and the presentations are aesthetically pleasing. The kitchen is kept spotlessly clean. Kivotos also is a great place to dine for the budget traveler - prices are reasonable. A no-smoking area is another benefit I appreciate. This taverna is a part of the Sun Boutique Hotel. So, when one stays at the hotel, the breakfast buffets are in the attached taverna. The review only allows me to put down one month and one meal time. But this review reflects lunches and dinners I have enjoyed at Kivotos for the more than two months I have spent in Amoudara this summer.More
Great atmosphere and the owners friendly, lovely people, made you feel so welcome, very friendly, food was wonderful, and nicely put out, very helpful to, would definatley go back there ,thanks Jenni and friends x
Highlights were the Stuffed vine leafs and Saganiki starters. For mains the Kleftiko and Moussaka are top class and try the goat in tomato sauce also. We generally sampled the various tasty salads at lunch with the utterly fabulous toasted bread drizzled with olive oil...and marjoram yum yum! We were always offered complementary fresh fruit and ice cream washed down with raki on the house, a nice touch.More
A lot of tourists don't walk this far up the main "strip" as it peters out. But walk a little further and just before the Candia Maris hotel you will find this little gem. No one is out at the front of the restaurant touting...for trade, but it is appealingly understated with cosy whicker seats and immaculately clean. The menu mirrors many others, but the quality and price are first class. We stayed at The Sun Hotel which is also run by the family and ate at the restaurant most evenings. The food is fresh and delicious and we ate different things every time. Worth mentioning are the mousakka (all the Greek food is good) and the pasta dishes. Walk an extra 50 yards to find an excellent evening meal. Open 1-11 so coffee and lunch are also options.More
I have been thoroughly enjoying dining at Kivotos frequently this summer during the crisis. With limited funds, I can dine well on a variety of foods from traditional Cretan to other Euopean fare. Georgos goes up to his local village once a week to bring...fresh fruit - currently, oranges grown without chemicals, and other items, traditional village bread, for diners to enjoy. Cretan olive-oil only is used for cooking. So, their home-made fries and fried fish are delicious and healthy. I also can recommend the mousaka, grilled octopus, fried cod, sardines, Greek salad, soups, saganaki, and pork souvlaki which I ordered two days in a row for its flavor and the crispy pita with a soft interior. The salads are fresh and large. On occasion, non-menu items are featured like okra and vegetables or fish in tomato sauce, lintel or bean soups - especially appreciated this summer due to its cooler temperatures in June and early July. Dessert ranges from ice-cream to fresh fruit to traditional delights. Chilled raki is offered at the end of a meal. Yeia mas! I have found the quality to be consistently high. The owners are present at all times and the mother of Marina also assists in the kitchen. This is a great place to bring the family for quiet dining and excellent foods. Because the Greek music is played at a low volume, diners can converse in normal tones and hear each other. So, this is a great place to conduct business meetings, too.More
