We have recently returned from a 2 week holiday in Barbados and I can honestly say we ate some of the best food at this place. The price is very reasonable and the staff are friendly. Ryan is the owner and chef and takes a lot of pride in his food. Me my partner and 4 children enjoyed ever plate we ate. Next time we visit Barbados we will defo frequent this place again. Thank you Ryan and staff

The service was a bit slow (we had to wait about half an hour though the food was already cooked and only needed to be placed on the plates, and at the time there were no other customers to be served), but we enjoyed the food and we definitely recommend the place.

I stumbled across this restaurant by accident after me anomy boyfriend decided to just pay our 2 dollars and take the bus to the end of the line. After about 45 minutes ride from our hotel at the Gap we pulled up in Seightstown. We started talking to a lady on the bus and she asked whether we would be eating whilst in town and urged us to check out the Shipwreck Bar for authentic local food and told us to ask for Ryan. We followed her directions and found the ShipwreckBar which has recently moved location. We asked for Ryan and he explained that the lunch time menu was available. It was buffet style where you could choose what you wanted on a plate, I had ackee and sailfish which came with hard food, I also chose plantain with my meal. My boyfriend had bbq chicken, rice and peas and plantain and the meal cost us around 36bds. The cost of food in Barbados is pricey and so finding this place was great. This is probably one of the best restaurants we ate in whilst on holiday in Barbados. Service was great and the food was amazing, I would definitely eat here again if I visited Barbados.

Called in at the Shipwreck Bar for a few beers and were pleased with the friendly welcome we received. It is quite small but very airy so not too warm and the drinks were well chilled. Mostly local in when we visited and all were happy to chat about life in general and their favourite football teams in particular. A true Bajan experience worth a visit.

Finding value for money lunch on the West Coast of Barbados is not easy. This bar costs about a third of those on the sea front and is good value. The view from the terrace is of the local builders' merchants rather than the Caribbean but you come here for food and drink not the view. The available food is similar to that served locally from the back of vans- freshly cooked and filling. Top destination for a budget conscious meal.

Excellent food with good value for money. Friendly staff with welcoming nature. Drinks served how they should be. (Rum by the bottle) not by measures. Won't be disappointed

Shipwreck is a must! It's moved to Church Street across from the Lumber Company. Worth searching for! Reasonably priced and great food with friendly service and island atmosphere.

Head to the bus station and the crossroads where the yellow buses then take the left turn away from the town and the restaurant is opposite the lumber yard - still excellent food and service and great value for money - alos does take away meals if you are self catering in Speightstown

We went to the Shipwreck Bar for lunch with a friend who is local to the area and had a lovely meal. The staff were polite and helpful. When you go to a bar/restaurant in Barbados the staff appear to be arrogant or abrupt but they aren't. This is just the Bajan way and we have to accept that. Bajans often swear when they are in conversation with you or each other as do all nationalities. Delicate tourists such as Americans or Canadians will just have to accept that fact. We have been visiting Barbados for the last 10 years and find the Bajans some of the friendliest and welcoming people. We have never been offended by comments they have made during conversations we have had with them or conversations we have overheard.

We ate at the shipwreck bar to try an authentic Barbados experience. It was terrible - the fish was overcooked, the potato wedges were horrible but the whole experience was made worse by the rudeness and arrogance of the barman / chef / waiter and the loud swearing by the people at the bar, who refused to moderate their language even though there was a lady and young children present.
