About

A standing dinner reservation at your favorite restaurant or bistro is a wonderful thing. There’s a sense of occasion when heading out for a meal with friends, but unfortunately these days it’s not always practical. So Mark & Mary- formerly of “De Outback Bar & Grill”, 3rd Ave, Lower Carlton, St. James, Barbados, have decided to throw our doors at home open to cater and engage our long list of beloved clients in the comfort of our home. The sky is the limit here in a warm setting where we engage in good old local cooking with an International flair. You can call ahead and place your order from our menu or just come and check out our surprises After all, home is the best place to be.

Awesome find and a future must

Mark and Mary’s was a recommendation in the guest book at the villa we where staying, and boy was it a find!! Once you’ve got over the need to pre-order it was plain sailing and a delightful evening of exquisite food. We were lucky enough to book on a quiet evening so had the full ‘private dining’ experience and what an experience it was. The food was absolutely delicious and Mary and Mark were the consummate hosts. Would highly recommend, just remember to get in touch with M&M early enough for them to source and prepare the freshest local ingredients

Thank you Mark and Mary for a fabulous quirky evening of great food, reasonable prices and fabulous surroundings Mary made us so welcome and her and Mark the chef chatted to us throughout the evening. It felt a privilege to be invited to dine in their little colourful annaxe beside their home. We loved it.

If in the area and want a relaxed, traditional and great value meal you must visit this gem. Mary is your host and Mark is the chef. The small restaurant is attached to their home and food needs to be preordered 24hrs ahead. This avoids waste and means that everything is super fresh! Also, you pay in cash. Prices on website are Barbadian $ A lovely evening. Great rum punch too

What a great find, someone in our apartment had said to go. Not in the centre of Holetown but in a someone’s house. Fairy lights lit the place up and the food was cooked by Mark and Mary served. I had coconut shrimp and husband had ribs, wonderful food and ambience.

Had a wonderful meal at Mark and Mary. The coconut shrimp were perfect and delicious. My step daughter is vegetarian and Mark cooked a special meal for her which she decided was her best meal of our whole stay in Barbados. The bread and butter pudding was really good, nothing like the stodgy dish we are used to in the UK. Price was also very reasonable. Will definitely go there again when we go back to Barbados.

Well that was wonderful! Welcome to Mark and Mary’s where your senses will gorge themselves on colours and textures and sounds and aromas and…..tastes! 8 of us dined here at this incredibly unique restaurant. Literally Mark and Mary’s place. Located in a neighborhood in Heywoods (Speightstown), it’s worth the trip. Call ahead for reservations and let them know your selection ahead of time for best experience. Our group dined on everything from catch of the day to sirloin and it was all excellent (yup even the turf part of surf and turf hit the mark). We dined here on St. Patrick’s Day and Mary even figured out how to get us a couple green beers to celebrate. Chatting with Mary after dinner was a delightful bonus. Thanks again for a wonderful evening.

This is the place to dine in Speightstown for great food along with great personal service. MIke & Mary the genial hosts have come up with a restaurant that has great ambience to match the food. Dont be persuaded by Mike to sample his rum collection after dining! (Hic)

We went to Mark and Marys a couple times while on vacation in Barbados, the atmosphere was amazing and the food was delicious 🤤. The hosts Mark and Mary were so nice and accommodating. Can’t wait to visit Barbados’s again and go to this restaurant.

What an absolute gem. Mark & Mary run this intimate restaurant from their home and are the most lovely hosts. The setting is so lovely and thoughtfully done. We phoned our order through and it was the best meal we’d had on the island so far so we booked straight in for another night. The presentation and extra taste & detail in the food was excellent. After eating they asked us to join then at the bar and we takes about rum and other things. Such an enjoyable evening. Would highly recommend. Thank you Mark & Mary.

We are a party of 7 and we have visited this restaurant twice now on our holiday. The food and ambience is absolutely first class. We cannot fault anything about it. Mark and Mary are so accomodating and catered for all our needs. We are visiting again on our last night to this gem of a restaurant. Love from the UK visitors.

We found this lovely place on our last evening in speightstown and what a beautiful last meal. A must try is Mary’s rum punch. Mark and Mary were both excellent hosts and the setting is beautiful. We hope to return to Barbados in the future and will definitely be returning here.

After trying pricy ‘stuffy’ restaurants in Speightstown with ocean views; we thought we would find some place a little more intimate. From descriptions, wouldn’t this place run by a husband and wife team offer more hospitality. ? WRONG! We never saw Mark, just Mary. SHE never asked where we were from, no attempt at any dialogue. Is this the Barbadan culture? Formal and distant? The food was just ok. The salad just like something you and I could whip up at home. Cut greens, some raw red onions, a few pieces of chewy tomatoes. Dressing on the side; slightly creamy and sweet. The shrimp cocktail was a TRAVESTY their obsolete web presence on Tripadvisor pictured 3 huge prawns perched on a glass.(see photo) Believe me, this is not what they served. Instead we had some thumb-size shrimp smothered in some Russian dressing. Our ‘catch of the day’ grilled mahimahi arrived with a mushroom, oniony spicy sauce, with some stewed potatoes. My wife’s fish was over-cooked. Mine was just Ok. Their home made ice cream was fine. When we asked for the check, we were told cash only. Really? There was no information posted outside their door that said: ‘cash only’ We had to pay partially, and run back to our apartment for more cash. This was a terrible imposition on us. Not sure what this place offers? Nothing special on their menu, at least some warmth and hospitality would be nice. Food is average, nothing creative. Not even any fresh bread. Not worth a second visit.~!tiaotse~

We had a really lovely time with Mary and Mark, such a lovely couple. Food was great and there little restaurant is very authentic, I had prawn cocktail and blackened catch of the day 👍 will definitely be back 💗💋
