We have been frequenting this place for quite a few years now & it never fails. As we were in Speightstown during September which is the low season this place is only open Thursday for fresh fish, chips & a few accompagnements. Fridays & Saturday is a bit more comprehensive adding chicken & ribs to the offer. This is a good local place, no fancy stuff just top quality food & good prices so if you want to eat simple good food washed down with a beer or a rum lunch & not feel as though you’ve stumped up a weeks wages then visit the owners Mark & Michelle who will not let you down. We will be back soon for sure.

I'm the type of person, or so I thought, that likes to read a menu and know exactly what I'm ordering, and at first I was thrown off by not being able to read one. But holy cow this place is absolutely amazing. Incredible homecooked food, true Bajan style. We all finished our plates, even my teenagers who are picky - loved it!! We got our choice between fish, ribs or chicken and then had a little assortment of stuff like pasta, salad, mashed potatoes or mashed something - this woman can cook!!! Don't skip this one!

We are so glad we found this hidden gem in Speightstown.
Situated just over the main road from the bus terminal it’s definitely worth a visit. The bar and tables are hidden from the road by a large hedge but when you venture in you will find a nice covered dining area and another open area.
The simple food is extremely tasty , very well cooked, by Michelle, and reasonably priced. Mark is front of house and a pleasure to interact with.
Their tag line on their sign says “simply the best food in Speightstown” .
We have to agree.

We have visited a number of the restaurants on the west coast and in the majority of cases they are pretentious and seriously over priced
De Sweet Spot is a genuine local restaurant offering good food for a very fair price.
The menu is slightly limited but fish, chicken and ribs are often available and cooked to perfection
The restaurant is run by a husband and wife team who are both charming and welcoming.
We would strongly recommend visiting this place for an evening, however bear in mind they are closed Monday and Tuesday evenings.

Hidden gem in Speightstown. Had a great early evening Sunday dinner. You can miss the venue if coming from St James but it’s right on the corner when you reach destination. Michelle and partner was so friendly and attentive. I don’t eat meat but they made me something with fresh vegetables that was really tasty.
The offering was fish of the day or chicken. It’s not some huge fancy menu, just good ingredients that was really tasty.
Chicken was tender and delicious.
Try the ginger, pineapple and rum cocktail - delicious!!! There is no name for the drink - but they should call it “Hit the spot”
We will be back before our holiday ends.
Ignore google as it says it’s closed.

Mark and Michelle, thank you for being a highlight of our holiday. Tasty local food at reasonable prices in a typically relaxed Bajan atmosphere. Best wishes to you both, I would recommend De Sweet Pot to everyone.

You know those meals that just stick with you—not just because they taste amazing, but because the whole experience feels like a little piece of magic? That’s exactly what we found at DeSweetPotBarGrill.
From the second we walked in, Michelle and Marc made us feel like old friends. There’s something special about a place where the owners genuinely love what they do—you can feel it in the warm welcome, the thoughtful little details, and most of all, in the food.
And the food… wow. Every single bite was perfection. The tuna dish was hands down one of the best things I’ve ever tasted—so rich, so flavorful, but still perfectly balanced. And the ginger pineapple nonalcoholic elixir was fresh and so delicious. Let’s just say if I could eat it every day for the rest of my life, I would.
We sat back, completely blissed out, as the late afternoon breeze rolled in, the kind that makes you close your eyes for a second and just breathe it in. It was one of those rare meals where you lose track of time, just fully in the moment, fully happy.
By the time we left, one thing was certain: we’re planning the rest of our trip around eating here again. If you’re anywhere near this place, just go. Trust me.

We dropped in one evening having seen the great reviews. The owner, Mark greeted us like old friends, such a charming man, and as it was the end of service we decided to book for another day.
We mentioned that we heard the ribs were legendary but he thought we might enjoy the tuna more. We ordered some beers and a few minutes later he returned with two plates, one with grilled tuna, one fried. My goodness how good were they? The best tuna ever we all agreed, moist, full of flavour, just delicious.
We duly came back and shared said tuna and ribs of course, but then came the creamed casava, another fantastic dish.
Exceptional cooking with the warmest of welcomes, what's not to like.

We had a great take away lunch here. Someone in the kitchen really knows what they're doing. Delicious flavours all around, and the creamed cassava was a true treat. We've been to Barbados many times, and have never had cassava cooked quite this way. Mark, who I think may be the owner, was lovely to speak with while we waited. We'll definitely be back next time we're in Barbados. Thank you, Mark!

I’ve enjoyed it in the past, and it did not disappoint! Fresh grilled tuna: delectable. Rice and beans: packed with flavor. Green salad and coleslaw: delicious balance. Add homemade tartar sauce and pepper sauce: launch into the stratosphere. Mount Gay with ginger and pineapple: yum! Lovely local atmosphere with sincere service. I love it. (Be sure to check in advance to confirm they are open. If not, try again!)

This place was such an excellent find and a 10 mins walk from our hotel - port st Charles. The owners - Mark & Michelle are such lovely and welcoming hosts. If you want an authentic taste of Bajan food, then this place is not to be missed! As a vegetarian, they catered especially for me and prepared some tasty food. My partner was very happy with his chicken and fish options. We loved it so much, we visited a few times! It was such a welcome change in comparison with some of the other overpriced restaurants on the Island with their bland food. Thank you Mark & Michelle ❤️

We have eaten at DeSweetPotBarGrill at least once a week during our five week stay in Speightstown and would happily return if we visit Barbados again. Our friends also loved it. Mark is a great host, and Michelle is a great cook! Thanks guys, we really enjoyed it.

Whilst this is not necessarily a place to wear your best frock and high heels the experience never disappoints. The tuna is to die for and the friendly welcome and hospitality of the owner operators Mark and Michelle is legendary. This is not a restaurant with an extensive menu or fine wines list but for an enjoyable and relaxed night out at very reasonable cost there is no better place to frequent.

I visited this De Sweet Pot Bar Grill with my husband and teenage children. I wasn't sure what to expect at first because it was such a modest looking place in a bustling part of the city of Speightstown in Barbados with the public transportation on one side of the street. What impressed me about the place was that it was an oasis amidst such a busy location. it was perhaps designed with that in mind. It is a tented area strategically shielding views of the outside with trees and plants and tempering the noise with vintage music. The staff was very pleasant and once the food arrived and my famished family dug in our decision to rest there was confirmed. I had mashed cassava and grilled fish. it was heavenly. my children all had chips and fried chicken and I was literally hearing "Mmm this is good. This is really good," as they ate." The staff was attentive while affording us the privacy we needed. This is definitely a restaurant I would visit again.

Our first meal out in Barbados and also Speightstown. Mark made us so welcome with his his lovely humour and gave us plenty of choice. I had the marlin and my wife the ribs, which were both wonderful. Plenty of choice of accompaniments to go with the meals also. Mark also adjusted some diners meals near us to suit their needs.
So good we’re going back tomorrow Thank you.
