Arrived in Lake Tekapo, checked out the restaurant online, selected Dark Sky Diner who's web page said they were open for dinner on Sunday night. sent email to make booking < no response. Arrived at restaurant to be told "No dinner tonight just snacks, we...were busy yesterday" What a slack dont care attitude from the front of house.More

We went on a Thursday night so dinner options were limited to the bar snacks menu but that didn’t bother us. My husband and I both had the fajitas and they were delicious. The view is pretty epic too. And here’s why it was a...perfect dinner out with young kids (aged 6yrs, 5yrs and 3yrs): 1. Kids menu is simple food and very affordable 2. There’s a toy table area to keep them entertainedMore

We are going for a dinner but they don't give us a plate. We have to asking for the plate at the counter. Their chicken fajitas taste very bad.

I think this was the best venue at Tekapo for Dinner. Great service with friendly staff. I recommend the salmon as a main - delicious. Get a window seat as the sun sets for a good view.

Fantastic food and service. Nice location inside the Dark Sky Reserve, comfortable seating area with a bar as well. Highly recommend.

This looked an interesting place so went in to have a coffee. Got a table right by the window with the magnificent view. Just had coffee but it was excellent when it came. Did take a while to arrive considering we had only ordered coffee...and the cafe was not overly full. Lots to look at in and around the cafe and we will go back as we would like to do the Dark Sky Experience.More

We visited the Dark Sky Diner on two days - the first time for coffee and cakes when we were booking the Dark Sky Experience, then again the following day after we had done the Experience. Both times very good. The second day we had...Brunch/lunch which we all enjoyed.More

The diner is located inside the Dark Sky Project and seems to a busy place. We found the food and drinks to be reasonably priced, we only had coffee which was good and a brownie slice for our afternoon break.

Kia ora Wayne, Great to hear you enjoyed your coffee and brownie! Thanks for the review. Nga mihi, Jemma

Apart from the view this place is poor. The food is expensive and mediocre and the ambiance is of a cheap cafe with cutlery in a plastic pot on the table. The service was reasonable but more in keeping with a down market diner than...an up market restaurant. The only saving grace was the stunning view of the lake and mountains.More
