Paid a visit on Wednesday for quiz night; when we phoned to book the man we spoke to was so accommodating ensuring that we were able to eat prior to the quiz. The food was delicious, all home cooked and generous portions. Staff were really friendly. Quiz was tough but lighthearted and enjoyable. If we are ever back in ingleton we will definitely pay another visit!

Thank you for your kind comments. Sometimes we do another type of quiz and I thought that was harder but there you go. I am glad you enjoyed you food as well. Hopefully you may well return and join in again. Best wishes from us here.

My partner and I visited here for lunch and both ordered the steak pie given the attractive description on the menu as ‘proper pie.’ When the food arrived the pie was stone cold. This experience was the first time in my life that I have ever sent food back. When the waiting staff returned with the food, it was clear that the pie had been quickly zapped in the microwave, and what had been a nice crusty pastry and crispy chips were now a soggy, inedible mush, which needless to say we didn’t finish. Credit to the friendly waitress who dealt with the situation really well and refunded us. Had it not been for her service this would have been a 1 star review.

Thañk you for your week late review but thanks for making us aware. The pies were not stone cold but we tried to rectify the situation and obviously we were not good enough on this occasion. We are sorry for that. Just one little guestion. Why were your plates empty except for one crust?

We visited this pub after finishing the waterfall walk, the staff in the pub were very welcoming, chatty and friendly. They had three excellent hand pulled real ales and we enjoyed food from the light bite menu. Dogs are welcome to the extent that they gave them free treats. We recommend and will visit again 😊

I attended yesterday with seven friends after attending an activity morning at ingleton falls. My first experience fell in with me walking to the bar where the bar person has opened the wrong drink for my friend so I offered to take it so not to have it go to waste and save them pouring it away. The order for our food was taken and after a few non alcoholic drinks due to the fact a couple of us were driving we were advised it was taken such a long time to serve our food because “the gammon steaks are much thicker than usual”. Let’s get this fact right they weren’t thick but we’re definitely tough. The food was poor at best all round and the service wasn’t much better. Instead of the owners coming on here and defending there actions by pointing fingers with false statements take action and listen to what is wrong. Reduce your menu and buy fresh produce, spend time serving people and be honest that there is just a wait time rather than some other poor excuse , get someone who enjoys cooking and knows how to do it to a good standard and finally serve with a smile and know the prices on your menu. You have a great location just try a bit and put effort into what your doing and you could make the place a gold mine

Thank you for your comments which we have taken on board and we do listen You know the comment the best landlord is always the other side of the bar.!!!!!! However I must say the gammon was very thick, it was not an excuse,I don't tell lies,Why may I ask did you not comment at the time.Yesterday the same batch of gammon was served and the lady was delighted that it wasn't "stringy". Each to their own. I have just commented to the butcher as he delivered my order. He is award winning in many products and delivers fresh produce each day. However I appreciate your view of things here. You are entitled to your views I am just glad that the other large number of visitors who passed though yesterday thought better of us.

Ate here after the waterfall walk, entering we seen the pub was empty so alarm bells should have rang. There was an awkward interaction with the only barman with him not understanding me this could be in connection to the fact he looked like he had been drinking on the job. As soon as we sat down the instant smell of wet dog was invading my nostrils, it was at this moment we knew we f**ked up!. Not wanting to judge a book by its cover we continued to order food which in its self was hard work trying to get it across to the puzzled looking barman. Ten minuest after ordering and paying to our utter amazement a cat came wandering out of the kitchen into the main area of the pub, we had to laugh as in - are they for real? To add to the comical value and discust the barman actually called the cat back into the kitchen it was like something from a sketch show. Now the food i had wasnt the worst but others in our party the food looked worse than a supermarket microwave meal. We should have looked at the other terrible reviews before making our decision to stay there, I now await the sarcastic adolecent reply from the owner.

We went for a walk round Ingleton Falls (beautiful - definitely go if able) and then we stopped here for a bite to eat. It was bank holiday Saturday and there was obviously a bit of a post-lunch rush in the pub. The place was busy but not full, there were a few vacant tables. The staff advised that it was bar service only. No problem. However, those at the bar acted like serving us was an inconvenience. Anyway, that alone isn’t enough for a bad review. I ordered a steak pie and chips for myself and a cheese and ham toastie for my partner. It all came. No problem. Frozen chips. Basic. But what we were after really. No qualms. However, my three friends ordered a toastie each. Two of them ordered Cheese, Tomato and Onion Toasties, one ordered a Cheese and Tomato Toastie. All three are vegetarians. These all came 30 minutes later as Ham, Cheese and Onion. Which meant all three orders were wrong. When this was queried the toasties were taken away and the manager came out, who shook the order tickets at our friends, explaining that they had ordered the toasties that had Ham on. When it was explained that the order was incorrect, the manager exclaimed “this is changing every time” as though my vegetarian friends had intentionally ordered meat and were changing their minds after the food was delivered. Finally, the manager advised that the ‘she’ (the cook presumably), “couldn’t afford to make any more toasties”, at which stage the manager advised that the best he could do was provide chips. No talk of a refund. That was it. Anyway, I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone, unless you just want a pint of Guinness. The Guinness was decent.

Went there for a meal, had pre booked a table for 4. When introducing ourselves and why we were there the barman & lady seemed at bit baffled and only seemed to have a table for 6 booked. We didnt feel particularly welcome but after some deliberation we were shown to a table, the pub was far from full up. Ordered our meals which included a bottle of white wine, bottle was left on table with no cooler. Asked for a cooler was answered with a questioning "what" and than an ice bucket was put on the table for the wine. Members of staff were walking through the pub with different bags of frozen goods. Meals arrived, I had ordered haddock and chips, first impression was frozen food, not fresh. On attempting to eat fish my impression was confirmed and it wasn't a pleasant experience, fish inside was a strange colour and had no taste, after a couple of bites I gave up. The others said there's was okay. The bill came and was some numbers hand written on a piece of paper totally unspecified. All in all a weird experience and unfortunately I left hungry.

Good evening. Couldn't wait to write this strange review. Are you in the correct pub. Firstly we do not take bookings anymore for any tables. None of my staff served or carried bottles of wine to anybody's table this evening or any other evening. We served no Haddock this evening ,discoloured of othwise. With respect I suggest it is you who are strange and unusual. All our bills can be itemised when we ask if this is what is required. You need to sit back and read this review just like you were taught at school, then you will see how silly it is. No doubt you are trying to impress somebody but not us. Sadly you are deciduous Gary P. You have tried to make us look incompetent and failed miserably. Go home and stay there.

We arrived here after a lovey walk around the falls. Planning a drink and maybe food. The building is fine with a classic country pub feel. It appears clean at first glance. That really is the only positive I can think of. Ordering from the bar- I’m quite certain the barman was intoxicated (it was around 3pm). I had to repeat my simple order a number of times and he asked me again when entering it into the till. He also had a constant dry cough which is a little worrying in the current climate. Talking of covid, there was no social distancing at all. No hand sanitiser obviously available. No face coverings worn by any staff. Track and trace consists of a notebook with people writing name and number down (?GDPR) Oh and there was cat in the kitchen! The barman told it to go back in the kitchen when it came out. Food. I ordered bread and chips. Quite straight forward surely. 50 minutes later a tray of chips and single piece of buttered bread appeared. I asked the staff member (also likely intoxicated with limited personal hygiene and dirty nails) if any vinegar was available. She replied to the table ‘some people have a cheek’ and walked off. She did return with vinegar. It was quite strange and really terrible customer service. Having since read some other reviews on here... the recent negative reviews are completely accurate. The owner appears to reply and claim otherwise. I expect him to do the same here. Probably after a long day of drinking his own IPA and coughing at customers. I suspect this place only remains open because of proximity to the falls. It’s a shame as it has real potential. Unfortunately this visit was an absolute fail. Avoid.

Thank you for your review or should I say essay and personal criticism of my pub and staff. Why on earth did you stay we wouldn't have missed you. You could have walked back out again and we wouldn't have missed your big sale of chips. How much bread and butter did you want for your money. Something for nothing again. You need first to find out who the owner is before you start to condemn him personally. I am the owner of this pub not a drunken barman as you say with staff on his back. Again why did you stay here. Or was it the highlight of your day to write this review. All government guidelines are in place here. Track and trace is as required. Some people do not want to give their details at all. Open your eyes sanitizer is everywhere. I apologise for the horrible day you had here no sarcastic comments from me today. It's a country pub and sometimes the cat escapes for a second . She won't kill you.At least ourkithen is open and spotless at all times. I presume you have said you piece now and gone away happy. You are one out of many who passed through here today and in this climate we do our best .Sorry it was not good enough for you.

Up on arriving at the entrance of your pub, reading the sign outside of ‘waiting to be seated’ we decided to seat ourself after waiting 15 mins not even being acknowledged. We sat at a table having a drink and during the second round a man rudely approached us with a note pad under our nose demanding us to ‘track and trace’ and fill in our details. He waited as we did this and rudely made comments like no one had bothered to fill it in’ there was no sign saying there was a book! When I asked where it was he said we had to do it he said we automatically know it has to be done... Not the question I asked! The book is at the bar incase you visit as there is no sign or anything saying so.. The pen was then passed around the whole pub to complete the track and trace that wasn’t socially distancing. The bar service was slow to and the guy behind the bar was also very rude. Also to mention that there was no changing facilities within he pub that sold food. So you’d expect the pub to cater for families. After visiting I understand why this place was the only empty place on arrival and all the other pubs and cafes were busy! Reluctant to even give ‘one’ circle rating. Was worse than terrible for attitude. And looking back on comments it’s clear the people running this pub have issue

Point one. I do not believe for one second you waited that long .I would have gone eleswhere. Two.You had no right to seat yourselves without your table being sanitizer. Three .The track and trace book is clearly placed at the end of the bar under a board saying where to order etc. If you were at the bar to order you couldn't miss it. I have yet to see a social distanced pen. Don't you think our job is hard enough at the moment without you writing essays in your loads of spare time hoping to gain what ?. The changing issue.!!! This pub is four hundred years old we have no space, so we have a chair and table in the ladies to help if needed. Or are you the mum who changes their babies napkin on the table next to people eating their meals ? I wonder. Economic with the truth as well I see.We weren't empty at any time. So while you try to find fault with all we do in difficult times madam ,think on.There is nothing helpful in your comments so I hope you are satisfied with yourself. I don't have issues just a busy life. By the way clever clogs, check your spelling and grammar. You didn't fill it in ,so you were asked to do so at your table. This is a government rule not a pub rule.Or had you conveniently forgotten. Four. There are hand sanitizer s placed alongside the pen also. You must have missed that as well.

It is difficult where to start with this venue, as it is so bad, more like a scene from Faulty Towers. On arrival there is no one to direct you to a table it is a free for all. We arrived only wanting drinks, so found an unoccupied table for two. There is no table service and you have to go to the bar for service. There is no social distancing. There was one barmaid serving everyone and a barman (licensee?) watching over, occasionally serving. I was drinking prosecco and it was served in a wine glass. When questioned the barman said they do not serve champagne, hence prosecco is wine therefore the glass. It was said in an unpleasant manner. I think he was more interested in drinking his beer surreptitiously behind the bar. Had it not been raining heavily we would have left. I never saw the staff use a hand sanitiser, tables were cleaned with the same cloth and only occasionally was spray used, usually by the bar maid. There was no track and trace system in place, and as we had not reserved a table, no one knew who were were. The tables were not the appropriate distance apart. It was obvious that the licensee of these premises had no interest in adhering to any Covid 19 procedures. If you want to feel safe do not go here, there are other pubs in the village which are better and safer.

Good evening In response to your review I shall correct you on a few matters. Firstly we are COVID compliant. Our tables are the correct distance apart and where not they are out of use. Track and trace is in place. So far we have had Elton John, George Best.Frank Sinatra and Joe Bloggs to name but a few. All our tables are sanitizer in the correct manner and at the correct time.. We are sorry nobody met you at the door.It seemed you managed to find a sanitizer table to meet your requirements. I am the licensee and I can assure you we try to run a tight ship. Obviously we failed in your opinion. I can reassure you you will not become ill from your visit to our pub. As regards to your glass. My barman was quite correct.Prosecco is a nice sparkling wine. Therefore served correctly in a wine glass. I presume you personally like to be different ,that is your choice. But please do not slaughter our little country pub in the way you have tried to do. I am sure you would have received the attention you required at the Ritz. Keep Safe and save your life.

Following the falls walk we were a bit chilly and hungry so popped in. I got a hot chocolate with baileys and my o/h a pint. We ordered the chicken with Stilton and black pudding and the "proper pie". Took little while to arrive but I'd hope that was an indicator that it was cooked fresh rather than microwaved or reheated. Food was served hot and plentiful. Not cordon bleu but good solid Post walking food. Nhs app available to scan and also sanitiser and one way system. I guess the main test is to say that I would be happy returning.

This is our second visit to this lovely pub and it is still as good as our first visit. The staff are still very freindly, helpful and polite there is always a good selection of cask ales to choose from which are always perfect and if you like gin or whisky this is the place to be. The food is excellent which is proper pub grub at pub prices and the the portions are big so make sure you are hungry. All in all this is a clean tidy lovely rural pub so if you want a good homecooked pub meal and a good pint served by friendly helpful staff we would definatly recommend this pub 10/10

We went here a few weeks ago after a long walk around Around Ingleton waterfalls. We were disappointed to wait over an hour for food. We ordered 2 Sunday lunches and fish and chips. The quality of food was poor, having bought a holiday lodge in Ingleton we will be visiting the village regularly but won’t be in a hurry to eat here again!

The food was terrible. The pub opened at 13:00 and were not taking food orders until 13:30, so we got a drink and some crisps. The bar maid was lovely and welcoming. We ordered the food at 13:32. After 35 mins our food came to the table, firstly a steak pie and chips. The colour of the chips was non existent. The carrots and veg were overcooked and cold, next a cheese burger served upside down that looked rustled up again with white chips (rustlers looked better) then fish fingers (browny grey fish) over cooked and curled like overgrown fingernails and again white chips. A browny grey ‘cod’ and chips and a stone cold steak pudding served squashed. It really was not edible. Oh and the sachets of sauce were out of date. The way the food is priced you expect it to be fresh and homemade, not frozen and microwaved. The atmosphere is non existent When asked how the food was we had to be honest, the bar maid looked embarrassed but not shocked. Upon seeing the cook stick her finger in the pie in the kitchen saying it was hot I had to comment, (of course being an old chef I can’t help myself and she clearly doesn’t like chefs) sadly she did not take my words kindly and asked us to leave once we had finished our drinks. We paid for our drinks and crisps and nuts and left as we were not made to feel welcome. It’s a shame as I have nice pint of bitter. But that’s it. I would avoid this pub for food.

Had booked a 3 night stay at a local cottage which made this place really handy. Found the food very good and plenty of it. The owner even supplied us with a meal when we arrived a bit late to find the kitchen was closed. She just checked what we wanted was available and the chef duly obliged. Ate here 2 of the 3 nights as we felt it was really good value
